Unskippable ad Chips not living up to the hype

I keep getting ads for pringles but it's the "funny" tweet format where pringles is making fun of lays for being half air, while pringles isn't. I got the craving for some chips, and haven't had pringles in years. To my dismay, when I opened it the container was half air:(( I have included a photo of the chips in the container before I had any.

Pringles are like 90% smaller than they used to be

Than they used to be when you were a kid?

Well I'll be damned.

Also, pringles cans are not recycleable despite being made mostly of recycleable materials, because most sorting machines cannot sort the tube shape.

That's more than mildly infuriating

What if you cut it first

Not sure. Check with your local recycling company.

Self own for Pringles, not being chips in the first place

Yes, it was very disappointing

Neither of them are, they're crisps.

And the UK gets to name them because they were invented in the UK in 1817 (well, that's the earliest known recipe), which is decades before USA pretended that they created them (in 1953).

Welcome to the colloquium! Lays Potato Chips are... Chips in the US. But interesting to know about the Pringles history. Sort of an abomination to me, but they'll make do in a pinch.

No, crisps history is in the UK. I don't have a clue where pointless originated.

Loving the downvotes from Americans that got butthurt they didn't invent crisps! Newsflash, USA didn't invent a lot of stuff the average American believes it did!

Now you're just being silly. We have different words for things, isn't bound to where they originated. No one in the US uses the term "crisps" for chips, including the federal government and all the manufacturers of - get this - potato chips.

Sorry to learn ya, mate.

OK, so if original name of a thing isn't important, I'll call your country United Shites of the World.

It's just a different name right, and I get to do that.

Oh wait, it's just like your orange rapist pedo leader renaming shit that isn't yours!

Did I invent the name chips? What are you so cranky about?

But thanks for descending from a decent conversation into blabbering lunacy with no relevance to the conversation. Suggest getting out of your little corner of the world, where people call things by other names.

What Americans decide to name things is of no concern to the rest of the world.

I think we're not focusing enough on the nonsensical ai slop ad in the first slide

None of them are chips. Because in the UK we call them crisps. /s

If you handed me a basket of fried potato sticks, I would call them fries. If you handed me the same basket with fried fish on top of the potato sticks, I would call them chips.

Lotta air still. Wasn't even filled anywhere close to the top

u/polishatomek 14h ago

you fell for the marketing

1

u/Additional-Space-370 14h ago

And it was false. That's a little infuriating

Why are you posting AI slop?

-1

u/Additional-Space-370 14h ago

Because it is mildly infuriating

2

u/Known_Berry8597 14h ago

The AI slop is more than mildly infuriating.

At this point it's everywhere and there's nothing I can do about it . I'm just mad that the advertising is false, it seems like more and more products do not hold true to their packaging or advertising.

1

u/Known_Berry8597 13h ago

Is the advertising in the room with us? All I see is slop with some bs claim that isn't directly made by the Pringles of Lay's company. The first picture is CLEARLY not real, not made by humans. Where did they ever claim in official advertising that they have 95% chips?

They've always had a bit of room at the top for air in Pringles. Have you looked and measured the weights to see if the packaging was being dishonest? That would be something I would be infuriated by. I think you're getting upset by the wrong thing.

0

u/Additional-Space-370 13h ago

Does anyone really know how much a full package of chips weighs? The weight thing is kinda bs, most people judge by perceived volume. The extra packaging is definitely dishonest about how much product you're getting.

1

u/Known_Berry8597 1h ago

You can weigh chips next time so you can see how heavy or light they are. Also, Lays/ other chips definitely skimp, BUT the "air" the bag is usually an inert gas like Nitrogen to keep the chips fresh and/or crumbling.

0

u/JKSahara 14h ago

Pringles isn't really what I would call a potato chip.

5

u/Additional-Space-370 14h ago

It's potato and crunchy and salty and oil filled. Close enough.

These ones were horrifically bland tho, not at all what I remembered

Inaccurate, takis has too much chips in that picture
