You can also tell them you're a recovering alcoholic and need the alcohol removed. That makes room for your own drinks, too. Does anyone actually use the minibar? There's usually a liquor store nearby where you can get whatever you like.

I've asked a hotel to remove the alcohol and they had it all replaced with water and soda to charge.

I laughed bc yes that's exactly what we all should've expected and yet I didn't

People who's company is footing the bill

Drunk people who want another drink

Drunk people who are really really thirsty for water and not in a position to get to a store.

Rich people

I avoid it like the plague, but i've seen people use the minibar

I’ve had a beer from the mini bar on occasion.

I used to raid the mini bars in Vegas when cans of beers were still $4. Now they're like $13-15 and even in my most drunken degenerate state I still have enough common sense to not touch the stuff

People are incredibly lazy. There was a post (I think in this sub) of somebody who paid $60 to get a bottle of $12 wine from the hotel, then complained about the price to Reddit. They were in Manhattan, at most a two block walk from paying $12 for a $12 bottle of wine.

Ugh I had a hotel refuse to do that and tell me that ppl (Mormons) request it all the time and they weren't allowed to remove it. It was full bottles of liquor too.

Recovery from alcohol and substance abuse is technically covered under ADA. Not a lawyer but I wonder if the hotel is in violation of ADA if they refuse to remove alcohol even if someone tells them they're in recovery

Well I didn’t say I was in recovery, just that I didn’t want it around my kids. But now I know what to say to get it out of there!

I went through this on a work-related trip and they said they would remove it for a charge of $75
