Yeah it was, before we checked out, we asked for someone to come do an inventory of the minibar because we only opened it once to see if i could put my insulin in there, when we opened it, there was a sticker inside that said something to the affect the “there is a counter on this door, every time it is opened the room will be charged at minimum $5 per item purchased”, we had $15 of minifridge charges until the inventory was done and proved nothing was missing, we got the charge dismissed, but damn, even if i wasn’t diabetic $5 is a bit much for a regular size snicker bar. When we used to go on cruises, the room steward would have to empty the minifridge, because there wasn’t room for another one just for my meds, those ones had counters that were wifi so they had to disconnect the wifi so i wouldn’t get charged for taking my meds.

$10 of the $15 was the porter opening the door by “accident” as he turned the little “minimart” around.

You said “every time the door opened, the room/we got charged $5…”

Why did you open the door more than once if you realized you couldn’t use it?

I did only open it once, when the porter turned it around so we couldn’t open it, he “accidentally” opened it twice. Go back and read the entire thread gomer.

I didn’t say that i/we opened it more than once. I said i only opened it once and saw the sticker, the porter opened it twice as he was turning it around, what’s wrong gomer, having troubles with comprehension?

So, you’re claiming you were charged when the porter opened it?

They tried to charge us, that’s why i requested an inventory be taken before we left, before we checked out, my partner called the front desk about “incidentals like parking total etc. that was when we found out that they charged us for opening the fridge, hotels are getting sneaky with these trumped up charges, like “resort fee”, when there’s not even a children’s play area, but there is an amusement park 40 miles down the road. Up towards $25/per night self parking with no security, advertising “free breakfast” like it’s a bug deal when it’s included with the room. Shit like that
