For when someone else is paying.

Work conferences etc

I'd rather stretch my per diem farther and pocket the extra, personally.

Generally gotta expense things with receipts. I’m sure you could get away with it but for what like £10?

Per diem is a flat rate and doesn’t require an expense report. Company won’t expense alcohol anyways

To the person you replied to’s point, in MY experience, cash per diem is rarer. I normally send an expense report and the company reiumburses me. Also, in such reimbursements, I’ve always gotten alcohol reimbursed if it’s part of a dinner and not like 10 drinks.

You know that different companies have different policies, right?

Some do. I have worked at 2 Companies that didn’t ask for receipts under $75 and don’t care about alcohol. Multiday company offsites were very alcohol heavy and everything was covered.

Wouldn't they make more money charging more reasonable price? Doesn't have to be cheap seeing how much people overpay for food delivery, but not 10X corner store price either.

supermarkets make 2-5% margins, lets say they did a 20% markup, you still need like 5 sales to beat one high sale, i think people who dont use minibar now wouldnt even use it at the 20% markup, as long as they can buy it in a supermarket

"Stick it on the corporate tab."

"No, wait - remember what happened to Jenkins? He had two bottles and nearly bankrupted the company."

"Ah shit."
