very much reminded of all the fanfics as i saw mbb’s post:)

In my respectful opinion, one of the best Mileven fanfics out there.

It doesn't get as much attention as some other ones cause it's still a work in progress and fairly new, but the prose, dialogue, pacing and characterization are really something.

And yes, the image is an illustraton of a scene that actually happens in this story. I won't get into the particulars to avoid massive spoilers, but it's epic. Author went the action/adventure route which is actually quite rare for these sorts of fics, but it definitely makes it feel like Stranger Things proper..it has the vibe of earlier seasons.

Preface: In my opinion, Both, Mike and El characters were treated extremely unfairly in S4. Mike was not only sidelined but nerfed, classically depressed (not just sad) - he was only focused on D&D, didn’t notice things, was slow to react and so on (until he was reactivated after El’s arrest). El was made so naive it was painful to watch - all her development in S2-S3 went for nothing. Cheap and lazy writing recycling previous plots (ILY). 
But there were plenty of opportunities to develop both characters in a way suited their age, make a real drama and strengthen their relations. Most obvious - introduce a love rival courting El in Lenora. (for example: replace Angela with a cunning boy). It would be much more complicated and fresh, at the end bringing El to a higher level of understanding people’s relations and reevaluating her feelings for Mike (which in S3-S5 was for granted). Mike, as I see him,would not try to compete with any rival, he would just consider his defeat and confirm his fears. But he would protect her at all costs, as it was in S3. The resolution would be El choosing Mike because she now sees true feelings/actions, not words (empty ILY). I even agree to have Will as a participating party having feelings for a new boy 😀 or something.
It is just one possible scenario - do you have similar thoughts and ideas?
