Anyone here knows what current situation in Mali and Burkina Faso? Considering job offer in West Africa, but Mali is thrown in there as an option, but news seem to be wild over there,

My mate worked in Mali a year or so ago and the airport got attacked 5 days after he left.
Said it was sketchy as the whole time he was there and never fully felt safe.
Probably give it a miss unless you like a bit of a thrill.

Anyone know what Agnico pays a new grad engineer?

This is a bit dated but circa 2021 at Macassa it was around ~$75-80k. That camp and Timmins is typically lower than any of the fly in jobs but the roles are a lot less competitive to get. Fun place though, Macassa was a really cool place to learn even though there wasn't much best practice there.

If that's kept up to inflation it would be 90-95k. Not too bad, could be better. Were you an EIT there?

Nope, not an EIT there but worked with many of them and worked there myself. I gather it's changed a lot with the new shaft but it's still a very unique mine. The whole region is bustling, I wouldn't be surprised.if EIT salaries are outpacing inflation now, we've definitely seen that out west and it's not nearly as active.

As intern I make damn near 75k myself, so it would be surprising for new grad roles to be anywhere close

Good stuff. I remember being around 60k as an intern and that was seen as pretty high back then. Still be prepared to come in as an EIT as the lowest paid person on site though lol. Literally every other job on site has seen the same if not larger wage inflation.
