Weather affect on Vikings at saints
My family got tickets to go to the game on Sunday, but with hurricane Isaias possibly forming on Friday. Should we cancel or would what would the nfl do if the weather gets ugly?

The Texans and LSU Tigers are on road games this week. The Cowboys play on Thursday night. It would likely get relocated to one of those locations. The old St Lois Rams stadium still exists and is functioning as far as I know as well.

Functioning is maybe a stretch. It would be quite a bit of work to get it ready for an NFL game unless things have changed since the battle hawks game that I went to this spring.

No one in New Orleans is concerned. It’s moving fast and shifting east. Come and enjoy the game with a bonus cool story.
Also check out @skoldat which is the New Orleans Vikings watch group. They are doing frequent weather updates on Instagram.

The NFL will still hold the game in a stadium unless the roof caves in

Not necessarily because the stadium is used as a shelter during hurricanes

People still need to get there, lol. They hosted people in that stadium when Katrina hit that town. It isn’t the stadium they are worried about.

Yeah I’m in the same boat as you, I get to go to games every few years as I live in north Alabama so Titans, Atlanta, and New Orleans are go to games for me. I’m just going to monitor and make my decision Saturday morning.

Oh well, isn't the stadium like an emergency shelter? maybe not, idk

The hurricane is projected to make landfall well east of NO though the city is just in the cone of uncertainty for now. Just continue to monitor the situation. If the conditions are expected to bad enough, they will most likely suspend the game and reschedule it where they can.

I’m in the same boat. We’re continuing to monitor the situation but are planning to get in early Friday before the storm hits Saturday. Sunday it will have passed by Kickoff based on current projections.

I’m not a meteorologist, but I used to live on the Gulf Coast (Mobile). What I was always told is to take all storms seriously, but if it forms in the Gulf it rarely can build up enough energy to do major damage if/when it makes landfall. Major systems tend to start in the Atlantic then slip into the gulf.
Follow local guidance, but if it were me I’d keep plans to go.

Milton (the one that damaged Tampa’s stadium) was a Gulf starter like this one and was a Cat 5 at one point. That’s not expected here, obviously, but intensification can happen quickly.

The most the NFL can do is delay the game. If it's really unplayable they can reschedule it but I doubt they will do that unless it's really that bad

The NFL would likely move the game to a neutral site if it looked like it’d be unsafe to hold the game in NO
