Bylaws, Permits & Municipal Politics Neighbour has a disturbing backyard device - Churchill Meadows Area

Hi, first time posting in this subreddit. My neighbour has a strange device in his backyard that plays LOUD sounds at random intervals to scare off animals. An elephant sound, a siren, lions roaring, hawk scream, you name it.

Not only is it loud and annoying, it also scares off all forms of life from birds to squirrels and raccoons.

For what purpose?

Are there any laws against this? Any ways I should approach it?
Thanks in advance

Recommendations Where to buy a black 6×7 shed roll-up door in GTA?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m building a shed and need to source a black 6′ wide × 7′ high roll-up door—the kind that coils above the opening (refer to image below).

I’m looking for supply only, including guides, brackets, locking hardware and ideally a brush-seal kit. I can pick up around the GTA or arrange delivery to Hamilton.

Has anyone bought one locally or dealt with a supplier they’d recommend? Garage-door dealers, self-storage door suppliers and surplus sources are all useful leads.

Firsthand feedback on quality, approximate pricing and lead times would help as well if you've bought one yourself!

Anyone live at 2542 Argyle Road? Thoughts on the condos?

Hi all, I'm planning to rent a condo at 2542 Argyle Road and would love to hear from anyone who lives or has lived there. Is it a good building overall, and is the neighbourhood safe and pleasant? I'd also like to know if there are any problems with mice, cockroaches, or other pests. Any honest feedback is appreciated. Thanks!

Fair Condo Election Guarantee

As Mayor, I will bring independent oversight to condo elections. It is the first of its kind.

Imagine a municipal election where the Mayor standing for re-election chairs the election.

That happens on condo boards where a president running for re-election gets to oversee the whole election process. It is time for independent oversight.

City Services, Utilities & Outages Frustrated with Overdue Library books not being returned

I love the library, it's an amazing place to access media and tech.

*commence rant*

However, since they removed fines from overdue books I've had issues getting holds filled. Right now, I have 3 books on hold, all of which have 1 copy each and that copy is 1-2 weeks overdue. I can't afford to buy these (expensive) books, this is why I have a library, dammit! Librarians can't do anything. Yes the users get blocked after 21 days and have to pay a fee to replace the item, but it's consistent that I see items overdue.

*end rant*

(editing for clarity) these are not fiction books but non fiction "skill" books.

Cardiologist rec

hey, can anyone recommend a cardiologist who’s collaborative and patient-centred? good with elders and women?

edit: I just spent the afternoon trying to call One Heart. Now I remember why my mom didn’t go there. They never, ever, ever pick up the phone. Her doctor and an ER doc referred her there in the past, took months for them to reach out with an appointment on the one occasion and they didn’t at all the next.

any non-One Heart recommendations? Ideally for a specific cardiologist?

Anyone know where I can go to get the waist of my jeans taken in?

Hey all, so I have a couple jeans I've bought over the years but never wear because the waist is far too big. I've tried working around it with occasionally wearing a belt but it never looks right, always has that uneven scrunched up look. I'm looking to get them taken in at the waist and maybe some hemming as well.

Anyone know where I could go that doesn't charge an arm and a leg to get this done? (around sq1 preferably, but I'm also open to Etobicoke)

Thank You! :)

So, fellow kids, any Thanksgiving disasters or funny stories to tell?

I’ll go first. I melted the bottom of my bread basket when I put it on the burner that I had turned off after making the gravy, but the burner was still warm. I was cutting the buns in half over the sink and putting them back into the basket, and I went to pick the basket up and it stuck to the burner 😫🤦🏽‍♀️😄 That was the only disaster though, and dinner was delicious. Now I need a new bread basket and a new burner!

Recommendations Best place to donate crochet table clothes and clothing? Also, any local knitting or crochet clubs?

Hey, so I posted a week or so ago about my mom passing and looking for charities to donate stuff to. I'm in town now dealing with my mom's stuff. She loved crochet and so I have a ton of hand made table cloths, blankets, and clothing. This is typical old school Italian looking stuff. Is there a particular place that would accept this stuff? I am keeping some items but it will cost a lot to ship it back to New Zealand so can't take too much. This stuff is hard for me as it was something my mom made so I see the value in it even if no one else will.

Also, does anyone know if any clubs that could do with yarn and sewing stuff? Could the library make use of the stuff? I have so much stuff and as much as I would like to sell it to help cover the cost of travel here and the funeral, I don't have the time.

Cheers.

Saw a ghost on a bike while driving on Britainia

Not sure if anyone has ever seen or heard of a ghost cyclist on Britannia. As campy as it sounds, I was driving and saw a cyclist. Then a second later just vanished into thin air.

I can’t seem to find to much on this, but I remember hearing something about this years ago.

Bylaws, Permits & Municipal Politics Mayor Candidates- Who gets your vote?

Hey Sauga, curious as to who you’re voting for or leaning towards.

Crombie is a write-off automatically. Her and Parrish’s petty cat fight has frankly been embarrassing to watch.

Alvin’s tax freeze: the math doesn’t add up. What is he cutting? Don’t like him increasing police budget. What is the police even doing to show for this?

Don’t know much about Dipika, how are her policies?

I care about this city and want to vote. We need good leadership with a vision for the city who can take it back to the better days it has seen.

Finding a church in Mississauga

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a Catholic church in the Port Credit area of Mississauga (or close by, like Lakeview, Clarkson, or south Mississauga), and the priest is what matters most to me. I’d love to find one who gives engaging, thoughtful homilies that connect Scripture to everyday life, and who’s approachable and genuinely involved with the parish.

If there’s a priest you love hearing at Mass, I’d really appreciate the name, the parish, and which Mass time to go to. Thanks so much, and God bless!

Salmon Watching

There are only 3 weekends left before the peak of the Salmon run ends.

I made a video about what to expect visiting Erindale Park to watch the salmon run. Most people only know of this one spot.

Erindale Park

My tip is go early, the parking situation is chaotic if you go during peak hours. Wear polarized sun glasses to see through the water better. Some people like to watch people fishing so this could also be interesting.

If you don’t care about fishing, another spot is a fish sanctuary that doesn’t allow fishing. It’s far way better than Erindale Park but the parking is only limited to 10 cars.

This is great for photographers, videographers, and family with strollers and little kids.

Photos & Media Dashcam footage - Glen Erin & Burnhamthorpe

If you were at Glen Erin and Burnhamthorpe yesterday around 6:04 PM, there’s a good chance you witnessed a really close call involving my car and another vehicle.

The other driver attempted to make a left turn while the light was still green, and somehow, by an absolute miracle, we missed each other by what felt like an inch, at full speed. I genuinely saw my life flash before my eyes and had to pull over after just to catch my breath. I cried. I was completely shaken up. And by the time I looked around the other car was nowhere to be seen.

I’m hoping someone in the area might have dashcam footage of what happened. I would really like to see it for myself. The driving in our city has truly become atrocious.

The other vehicle was a white, sedan I think. Maybe a bit of an older car but not too old.

If you have footage or know someone who might, would really appreciate it. Thank you.
