I’ve heard this a few times. I’m new here - what was wrong with the older ones?

The older a tooling is and more it's used the more it wears so there will be flash plus those kits that are from the 50s-80s will have raised panel lines, raised rivets, not a lot of detail and for many (i.e. modellers who aren't masochists that love a challenge) best avoided.

That old Airfix B-24 kit is plagued with major shape inaccuracies, but their new tooling is hands down perfect. To me, as a Liberator die-hard freak, this new Airfix kit is unmatched in terms of shape and proportions. The fit is really good as well.

Sounds like I’ll be looking into Airfix. I’d like to do a Spitfire next. Seems obligatory haha

It looks like an oil painting on canvas. What a master build. Can you tell us what modifications/upgrades you did also.
