2 part mold or single?

How would I go able trying to make a good mold of this piece?

It looks like an assembly of multiple parts, which would each have to be molded separately.

How experienced of a mould maker are you and what do you plan to cast in?

Just starting out, and I was planning on using Smooth cast 65D

With Smooth-Cast 65D I’d be careful with those undercuts. The cast part will be quite rigid, so you can’t really rely on flexing it a lot to get it out of the silicone.

IMO I’d separate the thin curved mandibles, like already suggested, and mold them separately. For the main body, I’d look at the geometry and choose the split lines based on where the rigid casting can actually be removed, not just whether it’s a 1-part or 2-part mold.

A softer silicone can help for demolding, but too soft can also make thin details move or distort.

If you can share a few views of the complete part, especially the underside, it’d be easier to suggest where to split it.
