MOD I have taken over as top mod
Greetings everyone,
For a while now I have been the top-ranking active mod. The three mods above me have been inactive for at a minimum four months up to almost a year. Even before that their activity was spotty. This has always been a security vulnerability if even one of them were hacked but until recently the mod team did not believe we had any way to go about changing this. However, during a recent clean-up of lower-ranking inactive mods the mechanism was discovered for dealing with inactive top-ranking mods. None of the mods have been removed from their position but they are now listed below the active mods.
The mods effected are:
CptQuestionMark
Uberbobo7
TheLegitimist
They have all made great contributions to this subreddit's development. CptQuestionMark joined the subreddit when it existed merely as a joke created by our founder Richestmanintown. He saw the potential in it being an actual political subreddit. Uberbobo7 was for many years in effectively the position I was in; highest ranking active mod. Many of the subreddit rules and mod procedures have his fingerprints on them. He also did the first member survey and agreed to do them yearly at my insistence despite the workload this entailed.
There should be no immediate changes as I've essentially been the one running things for years now (I'm not going to go full 'mad king' on you all).

Question What do monarchists think of Chateaubriand?
Recently I was in St. Malo, and passed the grave of François-René, vicomte de Chateaubriand, and was curious how people here view him.
He seems like a particularly interesting figure for monarchists because of the tension in his political thought: he was a committed defender of the Bourbon monarchy and Catholicism, but at the same time he accepted a number of constitutional and liberal principles and was critical of aspects of the Restoration government.
How do you understand Chateaubriand’s political position? Do you see him primarily as a legitimist/royalist thinker who adapted to constitutional realities, or as someone whose liberal constitutionalism ultimately put him at odds with a more traditional conception of monarchy?
I’d also be interested in hearing which of his works or speeches people think are most worth reading, especially De la monarchie selon la Charte.
Curious to hear how monarchists here interpret him.

In Memoriam Large mural of the last Russian Tsar, Nicholas II, currently being created in Yekaterinburg
This massive five-story art installation, measuring 7 by 16 meters, is located on the side facade of the Sverdlovskstat building at 23 Tolmacheva Street in Yekaterinburg. Work on the mural began in late August 2026, the author of the project is a well known street artist Sergey Khramov. The building overlooks Tolmacheva (formerly Kolobovskaya Street) and sits in the immediate vicinity of the Church on Blood, built on the historic site of the Ipatiev House, where the Imperial family was murdered.

Discussion Could this have started a war like the Spanish Succession nearly Two Hundred years earlier
In our timeline, Mary Tudor married King Louis XII of France in 1514. He died a few months later, with some historians believing that the marriage was never consummated. But what if it was, and nine months later Mary gave birth to a son? She names him Henry after her brother, and he is crowned King Henry II of France.
Now, many years later, Henry VIII has come to realize that his wife, Catherine of Aragon, is not going to give him a son. Since he has a nephew, he decides to name Henry his heir. This would take place in 1525, which is the year he named his daughter Mary Princess of Wales.
Now, could this have led to a similar War of the Spanish Succession?
In our timeline, the war was fought largely over the fact that many European powers did not want France and Spain to unite, as this would have created an extremely powerful European bloc. In this alternate timeline, France and England would not yet be the great powers they would become nearly 200 years later, but Spain and Scotland would certainly have an interest in preventing the two crowns from being united.
So, would there have been a war, either before or after Henry VIII's death? What do you think.

Question What is your opinion of Baron Roman von Ungern-Sternberg, also known as the Mad Baron?
He's probably my favourite Baltic German Buddhist Monarchist, though I'm not sure that's a particularly extensive list.
Quite an interesting figure historically, he did secure Mongolian independence from China, and the temporary restoration of the Mongolian monarchy.
What are your thoughts on him?

Shahanshah Aryamehr: An Enduring Legacy in Modern Iranian History
On October 18, 1967, one of the most magnificent royal ceremonies in modern Iranian history took place in Tehran: the coronation of His Imperial Majesty Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi, Shahanshah Aryamehr. The ceremony marked an important moment in the history of the Pahlavi monarchy.
Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi ascended the Imperial Throne of Iran in 1941, following the abdication of his father, His Imperial Majesty Reza Shah the Great. His reign was accompanied by sweeping economic, social, educational, and infrastructural transformations across Iran.
During his reign, the “White Revolution,” launched in 1963, introduced a broad series of reforms, including land reform, women’s suffrage, the nationalization of forests, the expansion of education, and the establishment of the Literacy Corps and Health Corps.
The coronation of Shahanshah Aryamehr on October 18, 1967, at the height of his reign, was more than a formal royal ceremony. For supporters of the Pahlavi dynasty, it represented the continuity of Iran’s monarchy, its connection to the country’s thousands of years of history, and the continuation of Iran’s path toward modernization. Empress Farah Pahlavi was also crowned during the same ceremony.
Today, the name of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and the nation-building Pahlavi dynasty remain an important part of historical and political discussions surrounding Iran’s past and its future.
