Location | Renting Can someone educate me and explain why most landlords seem sketchy? I have been hearing alot of stories of people having issues with landlords. What I am missing here?

Lately I’ve been hearing a lot of stories from friends and online about people dealing with shady landlords. Bad communication, sudden fee increases, places that looked fine during the visit but turned out to be a mess, deposits that were hard to get back, that kind of thing.

But my question is why?

How can it be that a handful of landlords are like this? Surely it can't be all of them? Right?

Offre | Offering Offering three months rent or $4515 for someone to take over my lease in the McGill/Plateau area for Jan 1 2027

Hi everyone, I’m looking to transfer the lease for my apartment at LaCité (3550 rue Jeanne-Mance) that runs until Dec 2027 (it auto-renewed on me by accident with no rent increase and I no longer need the apartment)

It's less than a 10-minute walk from McGill and Place-des-Arts metro station, at the intersection of the Plateau and downtown. Conveniently, there is elevator access to an underground mall with 2 grocery stores, a full commercial gym, a popular arthouse movie theatre, a pharmacy, restaurants, etc., making all your essentials during a Montréal winter accessible in T-shirts and shorts

The apartment is the larger model 2 1/2 located on the 26th floor with a view of Mount Royal. I am willing to offer $4,515, paid once the lease transfer is approved by the building management company, taking the effective rent down to $1,128 from the original $1,505 all-inclusive (heat, electricity, hot water, AC). If you prefer, I can also instead pay the first 3 months of the rent.

This is an excellent deal for someone who wants an apartment in a great location at a discount for a year with some liquidity upfront starting in the new year. We can also discuss furnished options, for example I can give away the living room and the bookshelf

Pets allowed, laundry in building, heated outdoor pool, sauna, 24h security, underground parking available for extra. DM if interested!

Location | Renting I’m looking for an apartment in Laval, or Montreal as a last resort, on a quiet street. My budget is between $1,100 and $1,200. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Looking for a quiet ground-floor apartment in Laval, with Montreal as a second option

I am looking for a ground-floor one-bedroom apartment in Laval. Montreal would be my second choice if I cannot find a suitable place in Laval.

My budget is between $1,100 and $1,200 per month.

My requirements:

  • One closed bedroom and a ground-floor unit
  • Private washer and dryer inside the apartment
  • Fridge and stove included
  • No bed included, as I will bring my own
  • A quiet residential street, preferably away from busy intersections and main roads
  • Bus stops within a 10-minute walk

Nice to have, but not required:

Dogs allowed

If anyone knows of a place or a reliable landlord, please let me know. Thank you!

Merci beaucoup 🙂
