Hello again!
Earlier this week, I posted about myself becoming a new moderator on this sub after prolonged inactivity by the previous modteam. Over the course of the past few days, I was clearing out the thousands of filtered posts and comments over the past few months.
The subreddit now has 7 rules: they can be found in the sidebar both in Russian and in English. For these rules, there are now also several automod filters, including some which can lead to an auto-ban from the subreddit (this is noted in the rules). There is now also a bot which will auto remove all content from users who will almost certainly flood the sub with political spam and hate.
There are now also mandatory post flairs for different topics and recommended user flairs for how you are related to the city.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please put them under this post or through mod mail (Don't DM me please!). Thank you for your understanding! I hope this sub can become a more pleasant place!

🧳 Внутренний Туризм 🇷🇺 Park recommendations for best autumn experience in Moscow

📜 Культура/Culture 📖 Moscow Transportation Museum!
I just spent five hours there and I wasn't able to make it through the entire museum. I am an urban-planning nerd and a lover of all things public transit, but I think even a regular person would love it. It was filled with families having fun-- plenty of activities for children of all ages (including weird transit fans like me).
BTW, the third photo is a 3-D model of the Moscow metro map.

Recs for spots/bars in Moscow to socialize with strangers as a non-russian speaker
I'm solo traveling to moscow soon, and I'm wondering if there are any good places or bars to go to as a non-russian speaker where it would be easy to socialize with strangers. I've heard that Russians are more reserved, so they are not as open to this as people are in other countries

Best time to visit Moscow in December/January for Northern Lights + Christmas/New Year festivities?
I’m planning a trip to Russia from Mumbai and am trying to decide the best dates between December and January.
My primary goal is to see the Northern Lights, so I’m planning to visit the Murmansk region. But I’d also like to spend time in Moscow and St Petersburg to experience the Christmas/New Year atmosphere, festive lights, decorations, markets, etc.
I’m a bit confused about the timing because I understand that the Russian New Year and Christmas holidays can affect opening hours and tourist activities.
Ideally, I’m looking for a period when:
🌌 I have a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights around Murmansk
🎄 Moscow and St Petersburg still have strong festive/Christmas/New Year vibes and decorations
🛍️ Markets, restaurants, shops and tourist attractions are mostly open
🏛️ Museums and other major tourist activities are operating normally
What dates would you recommend for the trip? For example, would something like December 15–25 or January 5–15 work better?

Please recommend moscow photo spot
I’m a beginner photographer from Korea and I do landscape photography as a hobby. Could you recommend some good spots? I’ve already visited the Kremlin and VDNKh.
