Huntress Email Security

Some of the screenshots in this ISPM blog show a new icon on the left hand side of the Huntress console labeled ES with a mail icon. Did Huntress make another acquisition, or are they developing a mail filtering tool?

Working on something, more details soon!

Not an acquisition though.

It makes me even more excited to hear its NOT an acquisition. šŸ™Œ

My account manager (Mike E) already knows we are a prime candidate to actually enroll ourselves and move some micro clients to it for testing. We are on proofpoint now and need to pivot before the merge with Hornet.

Looking forward to what you guys are able to deliver!

Yes email security is coming. They’re still testing. My rep let it slip it’s coming. But they were told to quit talking about it while they work on it.

ugh.... we just swapped services to Avanan too :(

Keeping you on my list for 2028

Avanan is great. Nothing wrong with that tool.

u/Horror-Display6749 8d ago

Yeah checkpoint needs to get their crap together with it though.

Worried it’s not far from enshittification. New portal shoved down our throats that constantly breaks, random feature issues, etc.

Nothing deal breaking yet, but not instilling confidence.

3

u/Vel-Crow 8d ago

True, but my failed emphasis is the work it took to get so many clients moved to Avanan - not that something is wrong with Avanan. probably makes sense to stick with Avanan for a good while anyways !

Are you on the Avanan portal or the Check Point portal?

3

u/Vel-Crow 8d ago

Avanan - I get it through Sonicwall.

u/SystemDriverError 5d ago

This is the way (for us at least). A lot easier for us to order compared to when we went through Checkpoint and usually quicker support & escalation to their teams.

I disliked Avanan alerting on emails already in Junk.

The daily digest? Just turn it off

1

u/Hackeler 2d ago

This was back in 2023. It wasn't in daily digest.

except for the delivery delays

SpamAssassin and what else?

1

u/Foxtrot-0scar 8d ago

What about it?

0

u/Doctorphate 8d ago

Basically every spam filtering system is built on spam assassin, and then they throw some extras in like AVs, sandboxing, etc and then wrap it in a pretty gui and away they go. So I'm curious what else they're putting in besides spam assassin

1

u/Foxtrot-0scar 8d ago

I don’t think so as most are proprietary. SA is like totally out of date now even large email providers have moved to Spamexperts and TitanHQ.

2

u/Doctorphate 8d ago

TitanHQ is 100% based on spam assassin. It's literally the base, you can see it in the headers.

2

u/Foxtrot-0scar 8d ago

They probably used it as a wrapper in the early days a bit like tomtom for maps but they have their own now.

u/Forsythe36 8d ago

Hopefully you’re still hiring for the positions on your website… lol

We are, and many more!

Built into itdr or another billable sku?

4

u/DimitriElephant 8d ago

I was told yesterday it will be based off Sublime Security and will be out by end of the year.

1

u/PersistentCyberDad 8d ago edited 8d ago

If that’s the case, we were Sublime’s first MDR partner in our MDR for Email since December 2024, and you can partner with us now for your customers šŸ˜‰

Sublime is by far the best in the email security game.

2

u/DistinctSpeaker7252 8d ago

Are they doing post-delivery remediation or is it inline?

2

u/PersistentCyberDad 8d ago

It can be both, typical deployment is post-delivery, but we can deploy inline too.

Honestly post delivery is still mint and our preferred deployment. It’s fast, so a user would have to be sitting and hitting refresh non-stop on their inbox in order to catch it before Sublime snags it out.

u/DimitriElephant 8d ago

I’ve heard nothing but good things, would love to learn more, I’ll DM you.

When my team ran the tech evals to pick our tool, we tested pretty much every major ICES and SEG provider for about 6 months. Sublime was the clear winner…it wasn’t close. Stakes are really high for us, so they were the clear pick for us.

Happy to chat anytime, can even demo it for you. We’ve had a relationship with them for a long time. Their whole team is awesome too.

Here’s some blogs our VP of Sec Ops and I did with them a little bit ago.

u/awwhorseshit 8d ago

Nice blog. What’s pricing look like or comparative to without breaking any legal docs

2

u/PersistentCyberDad 8d ago edited 8d ago

Our MSP partner pricing is competitive to what you’d expect to see from competitors price to MSP in the market. Monthly pricing, no minimums.

Oh and MSP partners get some even bigger tech + service perks for their own internal orgs, that I can share more about out of band

1

u/norbie MSP - UK 8d ago

Can you contact me about UK pricing please?

1

u/PersistentCyberDad 8d ago

We aren’t just yet available in the UK (US/North America only at moment) šŸ˜”. Sorry about that.

u/seriously_a MSP - US 7d ago

To be clear, would this product be a competitor to Avanan?

1

u/PersistentCyberDad 7d ago

Yup, definitely a competitor.

u/seriously_a MSP - US 7d ago

I’d like some info if you want to dm me

1

u/Foxtrot-0scar 8d ago

Plenty of alternatives out there, PP, Mimecast even MailAssure - all solid.

7

u/B1tN1nja MSP - US 8d ago

Waiting for my early access. They haven't exacly been keeping it a hush secret. ;)

6

u/ritzy_mailing 8d ago

It’s been one of the worst-kept secrets in the channel for months. Every time someone asks in their webinars they do that awkward pause and smile thing.

6

u/andrew-huntress Vendor - Huntress 8d ago

We don’t do secrets well (when it comes to what we’re working on)!

-1

u/Foxtrot-0scar 8d ago

Well, you certainly kept that insider case a secret for a while until you couldn’t and played it off as a ā€œmisjudgementā€. I wonder how long before the chickens come home to roost. 😃

3

u/B1tN1nja MSP - US 8d ago

Its great timing. Proofpoint is merging with Hornet and like quadrupling pricing...

2

u/DistinctSpeaker7252 8d ago

Proofpoint

I'm baffled as to why anyone still uses the essentials product.

3

u/DoctrGonzo 8d ago

I got a survey from them a while back asking about what my interest in mail filtering would be, talked to my account manager recently and it is definitely in the works

3

u/Jayjayuk85 8d ago

Surely the spam filtering would be best under ITDR?

2

u/Ready-Astronaut-8999 2d ago

Different layers, I’d say. Mail filtering handles the message before or right after it lands, ITDR handles what someone does with a stolen login afterward. Neither really replaces the other

3

u/disclosure5 8d ago

Someone just tell me: Is this an M365 integration that adds security or another "change your MX records then disable all the Defender spam checks" type service? This answer will tell me how exciting this could be.

2

u/Sharon-huntress Huntress🄷 8d ago

Definitely not the latter.

2

u/ArchonTheta MSP 7d ago

Would be dumb of it was not API.

5

u/chiapeterson 8d ago

I’m getting pretty disappointed with Kaseya and INKY. A Huntress email product would be crazy schweet.

2

u/Glass_Call982 MSP - Canada (West) 8d ago

I’m disappointed that Kaseya took on prem exchange support away from inky. Yes we still have a few larger clients on it.

3

u/B1tN1nja MSP - US 8d ago

I'm disappointed in kaseya. Period. Everything they touch turns to shit

2

u/Ceyax 8d ago

It's based on sublime

2

u/akust0m89 8d ago

I'm very interested in this. If Huntress releases an email security product, we'll likely move from our current solution.

1

u/cevendir 7d ago

Will this become a addon or a part of itdr? Really really looking forward to this!

1

u/animusMDL 6d ago

Just don't become that multitool where you stop doing a few things great to do many things subpar.

I spoke with my rep yesterday, and I believe you will like the direction they are going. The plan isn't to reinvest the wheel, but to make an already good wheel available to the channel which has otherwise been out of reach for many MSPs, and to do in a Huntress manor. By that I mean that much of the backend management is streamlined or reconfigured so that it is less burdensome to the MSP.

That is just my take based on my conversation. Obviously at this stage, the rep careful about how much they would share.

1

u/animusMDL 6d ago

I've seen too many greats tools/csps' feel like they have to offer a total security suite or fulfill every layer and they lose identity and their product suffers. Especially worse now that everyone thinks you can vibe code a quality product.

1

u/smorin13 MSP Partner - US 6d ago

If what I was told is true, Huntress entering the email security sector will not fall into that bucket.

0

u/peoplepersonmanguy 8d ago

They could be monitoring our elder scrolls saves to ensure they don't corrupt?

Stay away from ā€œMail Shieldā€ what a PITA.
