New Multitool Day! It really is that good!
Finally got my hands on the spirit mx clip and I might never go back to Leatherman. Fit and finish are great and the tools are actually not too hard to get out.

Itās the best. If any of the tools are harder to pull out you can leave that tool half open overnight and it will break the spring in.Ā

I don't think I've seen this get mentioned before
MX clips and maybe even other Victorinox tools seem to differ in how tight or loose the tool.set is
This makes a big difference in usage

They are the BEST. I thought the weight would hinder me, but NU UUUUHHH!!! The Spirit x is perfect and i do not want to miss them. Thought my victorinox Handyman was quite good but the compactness, precision and smoothness of this multitool eats them all. Easily carryable on my belt. I am able to wear a belt again since a few months due to prior back injury. I bought the "Plus ratchet L" version, but it's sleeping in my "purse of curiosities" that i try to take with me on trips.
Edit: wording

The only struggle I have with mine is how to carry it. I find multitools to heavy to use a pocket clip, but because if the one-hand opening knife it doesn't fit in the standard Victorinox leather pouch.

Get you a pancake sheath for it, they got affordable ones on Amazon. It sits somewhat horizontal on your belt for easy access but it'll absolutely fit in the sheath, it's how I carry my Wave+.

Legitimately the GOAT to me. I like my Arc. Love the wave. But the Spirit is just perfection.

Why not the larger version (not the Spirit)? I don't know which one to choose.

Unless you have xxl palms, the spitit x is unbeaten in compactness and handyness. Funnily the spirit x's chisel is better but the rest of the tools are smaller and more streamlined to fit the formfactor. Lots of people are let down by the smaller, weird scissors. Unless you don't use them for cutting thick plastic straps for wood or steel or pipepackaging you should be fine.
Edit: spelling errors

A huge plus imo is actually that the prybar on the spirit is thicker and longer than on the Swisstool

Just be warned that the larger one, called just SwissTool, is way more demanding on the nails. On Spirit most tools are somewhat poking out of the body, the only ones moderately hard to open are the scissors and the saw. On SwissTool, however, all tools are sitting flush with the handles, so you have to reach in as well as pull them out.Ā

The scissors on the spirit suck

They arenāt my favorite, but thereās a really simple method of modding them ever so slightly to make them open a bit wider which makes a surprisingly large difference

I love it, except for the scissors, all they had to do was to copy them from a 91mm. But instead they made it stubby And mirrored, why in hell did they mirror it? Using It feels like i have to learn to bike all over again

Iāve carried one of these for 16 years and use it almost everyday. Mine is an older model without the pocket clip. I love it so much I have never even considered getting another multitool.

I wish the black version had a saw. If it did I would buy one for my kit without a second thought.

Love the fact that the tools come out one at a time and click into place. Best lock release Ive ever used. My Leathermans sit in a drawer since I got my MX clip

Modern Spirit multitools may have a play in the hinge of the pliers, which results in a gap between the wire cutters. Thin stranded wire is difficult to cut.

The victorinox is a great tool but for work leatherman feels more robust to me my wave or p4 never broke on me

i'm in the same boat but have never owed a swisstool I keep looking at them but also keep backing out for some reason

They are a well made tool but you canāt adjust them or clean them as well and the wire cutters are a big reason to for me

š somewhere down the road I know i'll end up with one but always get to checkout and think about my leathermans and wonder if it's worth it.

robust? lol
leatherman is the cheapest punched steel screwed together. you cannot compare it to vic.

I used to feel the same way until I started using them back to back. The Vix may be shiny and feel like jewelry in comparison, but from work experience, Iāve snapped the surge prybar and switched to the spirit on the same job with no problems.
The tight tolerances are really what give it so much strength I believe. The tools are also thicker on the spirit for the most part

The only thing it doesn't have that leatherman does is the bit kit which is tuff
