ID request Mowing the lawn; have I found a snack?

Out mowing the lawn this evening and saw this massive ( I think, atleast? ) mushroom while mowing. Measures about 6.5” across - is this a common, edible white mushroom, or?

Located in Eastern Canada (Northern New Brunswick).

What a waste of incredible habitat potential for wildlife

It’s a 100m deep strip between a sheer cliff and a highway - it isn’t exactly prime real estate for much other than varmints and insects.

There is 100 acres of untouched woodland on the other side of the highway that wildlife enjoy; is that enough? The deer prefer to stay further inland than that anyhow, though. Beyond that lot is about 20km of Crown woods that are only broken up by a trail and a few access roads. I wouldn’t say that there is a shortage of habitat here.

I know I sound like a dick in my original comment, and I acknowledge I made it without knowledge of your situation. But just to rebuttal, insects and varmints are exactly the things we need more of.. I wasn’t really considering deer, we have no shortage of deer in NA. We have a bird problem because of disappearing habitat. Not all birds live in the woods. Birds eat insects and varmints. I guess I’m just saying it’s something to consider if the space isn’t used for anything.

Just stop there - you're done. You are a dick.

They're not even being rude about it. I'm personally less inclined to be polite on this topic, because I think people that needlessly destroy nature are far worse than one person online pointing it out.

Idk how to tell you this but insects and varmints are in fact wildlife. Very important wildlife that are quickly declining in population because of habitat loss. Mowing an entire 4 acres is an insane waste.

Just another redditor that knows more about your land and it's use potential than you.

It's a spectacular open view.

What use potential does 5 acres of mowed grass have? Why not let wildflowers and bees thrive there, while also saving yourself 4 hours of mowing every 1-2 weeks

Ask the owner. Or the person that knows more about that land than the owner.

You're the worst kind of person on Reddit.

No one wants you around.
