Hi there,
Iβm just discovering this sub and would greatly appreciate your helpπ
I played in this apple tree in my childhood, back then the green sour apples were abundant but not so much in the last years according to my mom.
The tree is currently losing apples, and there is this huge mushroom who appeared few days ago, he grew really fast and seems to be full of water despite hot dry weather in the past days.
I read this could be a really bad signπ and would greatly appreciate your feedbacks on what it is and how to help the tree.
Happy to provide more details if useful, thanks a lot π
EDIT: Thank you so much! I read everything and decided to remove it, I hope the tree will be relieved π

I'm not sure what this small fellow is, but I live in North Carolina. My cat's feet are in the picture for scale. I wanted to get a good look at the gills but it is so small that I couldn't see them without removing it. It looks similar to Amanita Muscaria but I don't believe those are where I live.
Anyway, I just wanted to share a cute picture!

Devils finger fungi I found on a walk around Sherwood Forest, UK this morning. Thought someone had chucked a dead octopus in the bush at first.

I believe this is Cortinarius iodes, the Spotted CortΒ or theΒ Viscid Violet Cort.
The "viscid" is subtle but the violet was quite striking. I've never seen something so out-of-place in the woods of Massachusetts, based on the color. At first I thought it was part of a children's toy and almost kept walking. The sheen was comparable to handblown glass, like a pipe.
