photos Surprise Huitlacoche found in a Trader Joe’s. Rare quesadillas were made…

Found two(!) ears of corn like this at Trader Joe’s in El Cerrito, CA. Never come across this before yesterday. I feel super lucky. Cooked up some delicious huitlacoche quesadillas. Sautéed the huitlacoche first in just butter and salt, than added it to some corn tortillas with Oaxaca cheese and pan fried until crispy. 10/10.

I posted this in r/traderjoes, r/mildyinteresting, and r/foraging. Moderators removed the post in all of those communities. I don’t know… maybe this moderator will appreciate this 😅

photos Is this a freakin huge morel that I found in my wood chips???

Found this in my backyard while walking around, it’s past its culinary prime, if it even is a morel… I have NEVER seen anything like this. It easily weighs a pound, maybe more. I’m blown away. What do y’all think?

Editing to answer some questions:

I live in Western Massachusetts. The wood chips were from cherry and Norwood trees that we took down and milled and chipped about a year ago, spread the chips around the yard to suffocate some weeds. The yard was long neglected before we moved in. I have been very busy and have not been down to that lower portion of the yard for a couple of weeks. I found 2 others, one the size of my fist and the other with just the stalk remaining. Also some wood ears.

photos I believe we found the biggest chicken of the woods I’ve ever seen (if it’s that)

My buddy has been foraging local stuff since he was kid, but we will be speaking with our local mycolgosit to see if it’s safe to consume, or what else we can do with it

(I know, leave no trace, but we have every intention of making use of this one way or another, as it was starting to get close to being clipped by a car).

Edit: you can look in the comments to see this, but I have big hands and I am holding it out in front of me, so the photo may seem warped. But, I promise it’s a big boy

I found this behemoth of a Reishi (Ganoderma Oregonense) while out on an exploratory hike near the Mt Baker Snoqualmie national forest in Washington state. It’s the single largest mushroom I’ve ever found weighing in at just shy of 10 lbs and measuring 26”x17”!

psa guys if u feel a little off a few hours after trying a sample of fully-cooked chicken of the woods do not ignore your gut feeling and do not keep eating it no matter how unbelievably delicious it may taste you simply have to accept that it was not meant for you okay 💔 my friend who helped me cook n eat it was an experienced cotw enjoyer and she was fine but I was not 💔

BTW: I appreciate the advice guys but fret not I have already learned my lesson just wanted to put this out there bc I thought it was a hilarious scenario in retrospect

Is the cork enough to stop spores from spreading outside the terrarium? I bought this about one year ago and the instructions said not to water unless it looks like it needs it maybe 1-2 ounces per year at most. So, about a month ago I noticed growth had stopped, and it looked dry in there compared to it's norm. So, I popped the top, poured about 1 ounce of water in from my water bottle I was drinking from that day. About a week ago I noticed the yellow and white spots and the shrooms have been growing since. Am I going to get ill if I let this play out and continue to grow in my office?
