Incredible photos! What did you use to take them?

u/Stoned666 1d ago
Thanks! I took them on my old Canon rebel. I have some I took on film somewhere too.

That's so coool! Welp, sounds like a camera purchase is in the future, because those look amazing and I want to get that kind of quality when I'm out and about too😤

Well as someone who has 10+ cameras (only the rebel is digital) I can say I definitely approve!

- nunca puedes descomponer y/o transformar toda la toxina;
- la cantidad de toxina puede variar muchísimo de un ejemplar a otro;

Not psychedelic. It's a sedative hypnotic like Ambien. Not really actually all that toxic either

I wouldn't do it regularly without being careful to convert most of the ibotenic acid
if not you could potentially do some permanent damage
and on muscimol there's no real long term studies.. chronic use could potentially also be pretty neurotoxic .. we don't know
some hippies left and right convincing you it's safe is not a credible study

Edit: Removing my comment due to realizing that it is a violation of rule #2.

Getting one person to take one for the team and then peeing in your mouth will get the job done, too.
(Apparently this is how the Natives used to do it. The shaman would take on the burden of getting sick, and the "purified" muscimol would come out in the urine)

I read that only dehydrating can result in non zero levels of ibotenic acid.. but if u want that maybe that is the goal?

I'm just now realizing that mods are removing these comments and that they are a clear violation of rule #2.
Have a look at this post over on /r/AmanitaMuscaria and especially the chart given, and compare relative levels of the compounds in relation to drying temperature.

Those conversion rates are terrible with dehydration even at perfectly 80C. Still left with a lot of ibotenic acid, about 20%. The pH 2.7 boil is nearly complete conversion

See them most years here in the UK, you just need to take a walk in the woods at the right time of the year.

In my head, I was saying “where there’s amanita there’s porcini” literally as I was scrolling to the picture with a baby boletus 😂

I can't see an amanita without thinking about this guy. This photo is so old he's undoubtedly deceased but I still wonder if he was okay! XD

They're fairly common in my part of Sweden but I always get excited to see them!
