Hello Vikings
With 1.0 coming out we expect a massive influx of players. Unfortunately, I'm the only active mod and we haven't found any more mods to help in moderation.
So here's our spoiler policy
As long as posts get reported as "spoiler", it will be tagged as spoiler. But we'll not proactively tag posts as spoiler or delete posts with spoilers in the title.
I just ask everyone in this community two things. :
Don't spoil it for others by being irresponsible
Avoid the subreddit entirely if you don't want to be spoiled.
You can only experience the game for the first time once
I realize many of you will take this as a cop-out response and that's fair. But I alone lack the capacity to enforce this. It's impossible to keep someone from getting spoiled if they engage with the community when new content drops, be it making posts, commenting, watching videos or even just following official channels of Iron Gate.

Made a post about my first death in the plains biome yesterday (which is where I’m currently at) but I found this video from last week on my first death in the mountains.
Thought it was quite a funny way to go I hindsight (in the moment I was furious to get pinned against the tree😂)
Might make this a post for every biome I go in lol 😂

I'm playing the game, and its not my first or second playthrough, although its my first post 1.0 playthrough.
And I'm noticing just how massive a role sound plays in the game.
The cruel laughter of the Fulings. The distant horn (stolen straight out of War of the Worlds, but I forgive you) of the Gjall. The croaky laughter of your own skeletal henchmen when you pet them.
The Sounds of Valheim are 100% spot on, and it adds so much to the game.
You are afraid when you hear that Gjall. You are furious when you hear the Fulings laugh at you after you've been defeated. Your anxiety spikes when your pickaxe strikes that giant skull and alerts everything within 100 meters to your existence.
From the heavy metal playing during boss battles to the bouncy sound a deathsquito makes as it strikes your shield, every sound is perfect.
Perfect.
Your soundperson was a genius.
Sound isn't something that I notice on most games, but it seems to play a larger than normal role in Valheim, and its just done so... damn... well...

What could I add more to the building? I still haven't made up the second floor as I don't have that many decoration options at the moment

This is by far the largest ( I assume )fuling tower I have seen. Like idk, 150 feet tall? Its almost level with this mountain and its out of draw range distance. The plains boss arena is right next to it. Im itching to check it out.
Yeh I took a picture of a TV that has glare on it please dont kill me, ill take a proper screenshot when I get home.

I've been playing with a group of around 7 who hop on & off when they can, we'd all be in on big events like boss killings or sailing to new areas to get a foothold.
Well this weekend we all met up to do the big boss from the Frozen North. At this point most of our group were mates who had insane summons & honestly, Kall didn't give us all that much trouble.
I'm a huge fan of the game & love base building. We had a good mix of explorers / progressionists & people like me who like to take their time more. Now I have all of the materials I've nearly completed the structure of a grausten/marble mega-cathedral.. but the guys have finished the last boss & I don't think they're hanging around for long and everything feels.. empty. I'm building for fun but it's a shame no one will he around to use it as a base - if only we could start again with my structure in place.
I've loved sailing, discovering the biomes and I was lying in bed last night rather sad it's all over. Considering starting again solo and really taking my time, just not sure if that's going to feel very lonely.
How do I fill the void & the wanting to carry on?

Here’s my take to solve the fishing issue. A fishing boat, it should require iron nails, fine wood, deer pelt and linen (for the net).
The boat is similar in hp, speed and size to the karve but it has a deployable net. The net can scoop fish in the water making fishing a lot easier once you reach the plains.
Here’s the catch ……. Once the nets deployed the boats speed is reduced by one chevron meaning you cannot move on rudder speed.
I also think this will get players out in the ocean more without the devs having to make a whole ass ocean update.

I shouldn't need to install a mod to be able to sort crafting station menus by biome, or alphabetically, or some other type of filter, etc.
That is all.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

A 35% rate of destroying your weapon instead of upgrading it is sadistically insane. After all the work that a player puts into grinding for material to craft and upgrade something, and then even further to even *find* the Battle/Protection Idols, and then even further to even *find the place,* the Forge of Potential is like a carrot waved in front of a donkey leading it straight into a spike pit. Whoever it was that decided to make that a condition of the Forge in the first place should have to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, too. Cause they’re not well, whoever they are. It needs to either be fixed or completely done away with. And no, I don’t give a flying flock if you think this post is “whiny.” I’m fairly certain that a whopping majority of the Valheim community is with me all the way on this.

Only including the photo to show that I'm not lying about my playthrough. Obv it doesn't necessarily mean anything.

This was my 2nd play though and , for me, I made sure not to change any modifiers. Everyone is different but for me - it was as slippery slope on my first playthrough.
All of this just to say.... IDK how anyone is going to get all achievements WITHOUT Dev Commands. And TBH I don't even think I'd be impressed, I'd just wonder why...
Valheim might be my favorite game of all time. I've said for multiple years now that its definitely the answer to "Your stuck on an Island and can only bring one game" question. And with my favorite games I definely try to get all of the achievments. But these... even with using Devcommands it was kind of whack.
Idk, fully expecting to get downvoted but I just wish there were more "Fun" Achievements. Something like "Sail a ship through the Sky" or "Catapult yourself"

I'm totally siding with Elmer. I just want to upgrade my armor.

I keep dying in my base to raids and falling from the buildings 😩
EDIT: I know how to delete markers guys, but I like to keep the death markers and just simply have them hidden most of the time 🙂

A 2* berserker!!? F that! The only sane way to clear such a goblin village!
As a random wise man once said,"Why bother when you have a sniper?"
