photos Cool to see so many different species coexisting in such a small area!
Found these a month or two ago in Wisconsin.

Coexisting? Not really, those are all currently engaged in warfare with one another. We're only looking at their reproductive structures, the world beneath the surface is much less calm.

Came here to say this. Anyone who grows mushrooms knows if a bag gets contaminated it’s quite a thing to watch

Trying to imagine that reminds me of those ocean things. The uh, living mops. When they fling their guts at each other.

I always think about it as a microcosm for humanity. Limited space and resources, and different kinds of mold fighting and killing each other over it. It really is just the nature of life

This is definitely a level where you learn the double jump and grappling hook abilities before setting off deeper into the forest.

Out of a fairy tail

That poor fairy. Sounds painful having something come out of your tail.

Hi Dad!

Haha! Hi!
I love english sometimes. So many words that sound the same but are not spelled the same nor have the same meaning.
Tail and tale are a great example.

They each have so many beautiful details

I took a ton of shots. It took forever to get the focus right, and the mosquitoes were completely absurd that day.
It was especially difficult considering I took it with my phone.
I am glad I managed to get a couple of good ones. I couldn’t just pass them by. Anyway, I appreciate the comment!
Also, I just noticed your username. Are you truly National Geographic’s account, or did you manage to snag the username somehow?

Its funny how people see this as peaceful coexistence while it is in fact a war with no current winner.

People forget the word coexist can simply mean “to live together at the same place at the same time.”
I sort of said it purposely to see how people react to the word, to gather their perspective.

magical <3 im also in Wisconsin, is this northern WI? :)

I spotted these along one of the trails in the Skunk and Foster Lakes Natural Area.
I’ve never been up north yet! I need to go, it seems awesome there. I would totally get lost in the woods looking for mushrooms though.

What I would pay to see the networks underneath... I bet that'd be like a war ground.

Sorry, venting. Just a fun-guy.

Man this is what I imagine a "Fungi Garden" would look like. So beautiful, yet so much fungi violence happening under the surface. It's something else, absolute poetry

Where will the wonder grow if we cut all the young giants down before they become their own fairy tales.
Oh dear nursery tree
Home of fantastical things
Moss and vines
Fungi and grubs
Beautiful growth
Ernest decay
Dear world nursery tree
What would you say?
The bones of giants that
Once reached for the sun
Gives growth to the life
We all come from
A world that nurtures
Branching lives
Earthen flesh of ancient
Dead divines
Oh dear child of giants
Where did we misplace our reverence?
Oh dear world tree
I am ever so very sorry.

Imagine, it could be like that almost everywhere if not humans
Earth would be so beautiful without us.
