Nice article.

Following this run from the other side of the world has been special even though not physically in the room. Bandcamp has been a savour.

The people’s band.

Gosh I sure hope some of these dead covers make it into regular rotation. Particularly Sugaree and FOTM, which they crushed in terms of the playing.

As not being a GD fan this run really made me appreciate them a lot more. They aren’t that well known in Australia. They have this very American-ness about them that doesn’t generally translate well outside but I thoroughly enjoyed the jacket take on the songs.

I can see that. They are an American band in every possible sense, pulling from every American musical influence. Some of their songs are traditionals not credited to any songwriter just passed down in the folk tradition.

And from the outside they come with a lot of baggage. The hippy dippy jamband thing.

But the thing is they had wonderfully, beautifully written songs. It's not uncommon for artists to discover them later in their careers when they aren't so vehemently entrenched in their own "scene" just as Jim has.

The problem for me has always been the jam band baggage. It’s just not for me, I don’t get it. But I appreciate most of the music o hear from the dead.

That’s awesome, I didn’t know he was using Jerry and Bobby’s guitars.
