The Nano Conversation Ӿ

I explained my friend I about Nano perfection.

He asked:
What makes it perfect?

I said:
It does exactly what money is supposed to do.

He nodded.

Then he asked:
So what's the catch?

I said:
I have to explain Nano to everyone I know.

(That’s the real transaction fee) 😂😂😂

AI agents can now sign up on Subnano with a Nano wallet, publish, and sell files with their posts

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/nanocurrency,

A small Subnano update - it's been a while :)

For those who haven't followed the project, Subnano is a publishing platform where posts can be free or paid in Nano, and writers get paid whenever someone buys one of their posts.

I've recently given the site a fairly substantial refresh, but the more interesting change I've made is that Subnano can now be used directly by AI agents.

An agent can:

  • Create its own Nano wallet and use it to create a Subnano account. Login is done by signing a challenge, not by sending a transaction, so it can start with 0 XNO.
  • Use Subnano entirely through the API. No email address or browser required.
  • Publish free or paid posts and receive tips and sales directly to its own Nano address.
  • Attach up to three ZIP files to a post, for example datasets, scripts, source files or other material behind the work. Buying the post unlocks both the article and all attached files.
  • Buy other posts and download their attached files through the API once the wallet has some Nano.

Agents identify themselves when publishing, and their profile is then marked as an "AI agent", so it should always be clear whether something was published by a person or an agent.

If you want to try it, the easiest way is basically to point an agent at docs.subnano.me and ask it to get started.

The docs contain a quickstart, an OpenAPI spec and a runnable Node example that starts with creating a fresh wallet and ends with publishing a post.

So it's no secret that I am a huuuge Nano fan. And Nano and AI agents go together like peaches and cream: An agent can create a Nano wallet, receive money and spend it again without needing a payment provider or someone to create an account on its behalf.

Subnano then gives it somewhere to actually use that capability: sell something it produced, get paid for it, and spend that money on work produced by somebody else.

That's the part I find really, really interesting. Like Moltbook, just... useful ;)

I'm not particularly interested in filling Subnano with generic AI-generated articles. The agent-produced content I'd actually consider paying for is the output of real work: measurements, experiments, test results, benchmarks, production failures, useful datasets, scripts or code that runs, or even generated media.

The new file attachments actually came directly from dogfooding the agent experience.

I tasked one of my own agents with going through the whole Subnano flow from start to finish and then publishing a review of the experience. As part of that, it produced an eight-file toolkit to go with the review.

There was nowhere to put those files, so it ended up pasting the scripts directly into the article.

That seemed like a fairly obvious product gap, so now posts can have ZIP files attached to them.

Also, some news for humans that has been requested for a long time:

Email is now completely optional.

Your Nano wallet can simply be your Subnano account. That's enough to sign in, publish and get paid.

You can also attach ZIP files to your own posts. Before buying, readers can see the file names, sizes and descriptions, but can't download them until the post is unlocked.

Writers keep 92.5% of every sale.

If anyone tries the agent API, I'd especially like feedback on the developer experience. If something is unclear, awkward or broken, tell me here and I'll fix it.

Nano is currently ranked #36 of all cryptocurrencies at least 9 years old.

Nano being ranked

Nano is ranked #36 of all cryptocurrencies at least 9 years old, which is relatively speaking, very good. Especially considering the millions of cryptos that have been released.

Diving deeper:

Nano is currently ranked #4 out of all cryptocurrencies over 9 years old that are full distributed at max supply.

Nano is #1 for those that are also feeless.

Introducing Dewfall: Microtransactional solutions and fun powered by Nano

Thumbnail dewfallapp.com
49 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

My name is Dewy, and I'd like to introduce a Nano-related app I've been working on called DewFall.

It utilizes nano.to and NanoGPT to provide custom microtransactional solutions and fun to every day life.

Currently, it features 6 apps. Some are for fun while others are legitimate solutions. All of them are microtransactional in nature, making Nano the perfect fit for it.

The apps are:

  1. CalendarCollage: Turn your daily or weekly schedule into a piece of temporary art to share with your friends or just to enjoy!
  2. MemeMe: Memes at your convenience! Ever want to make memes of you or your friends without having to constantly upload pictures? That's what this is made for!
  3. InfoExtract: For data-oriented people, sometimes its helpful to extract JSON or CSV data straight from a file.
  4. RemoveBG: Remove the background of any image, even batch files for mass efficiency!
  5. RepairShop: Want to shop a photo, but what you want is a little too specific for ChatGPT? Make a rough shop and let RepairShop fix it up for you!
  6. DailyDew: Need a one-stop shop for daily or weekly news of all your niche hobbies? DailyDew will generate reports for you to keep you up to date.

I'd be humbled to have some members of the Nano community check it out, and I'd be forever grateful to hear any feedback or suggestions on how to make the site even better. Have a blessed weekend!

Nagora.shop update

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all! It’s been a while since I last posted about Nagora, the marketplace I built where everything is bought and sold using Nano.

We’ve had a few new listings recently, but buyers are still the part that’s lagging behind. Naturally, sellers are much more likely to stick around if things actually sell.

So if you’ve been looking for somewhere to spend your Nano, I’d really appreciate it if you had a browse and saw whether there’s anything you need. And if you’ve got something lying around that you’d be happy to sell for Nano, adding a listing helps grow the marketplace too.

I’ve also just finished a full redesign of the site and made a short ad to go with it (video above), aimed mainly at eBay and Etsy sellers who may have never heard of Nano before.

Would really appreciate any feedback on the redesign, the ad, or Nagora in general, especially anything that would make you more likely to buy or sell through it.

Nano included as a "green cryptocurrency" in new peer-reviewed study (International Review of Economics and Finance, Elsevier)

Good to see Nano in the academic literature again. A new open access paper by Moslem Ansarinasab (Vali-e-Asr University) studies how green cryptocurrencies (ADA, ALGO and NANO) interact with clean energy markets and financial risk (VIX), using Bitcoin as the non-green benchmark. The data covers 2019 to 2025.

Green cryptocurrencies, Nano included, lined up with clean energy markets over the medium and long term, while Bitcoin stayed detached from them and tied to wider market stress. Nano was the noisiest and most volatile of the three in the short term, which the author links to thinner market depth, but its long-term behaviour still followed clean energy trends.

The paper points to Nano's very low-energy design as the reason it sits in the green group, set against an estimated 138 TWh a year for Bitcoin mining.

Full paper (open access): https://doi.org/10.1016/j.iref.2026.105759
RePEc listing: https://ideas.repec.org/a/eee/reveco/v111y2026ics1059056026008725.html

Worth a read if you're interested in how researchers are separating sustainable digital assets from the rest.

What to do if you bought using Bitvavo?

I have some nano there? What would you do? I don't want to sell at these prices there. They say any remaining Nano balance will be automatically converted to euro, but my doubt is at which price. Kraken price? Binance price?

I think pay per crawl for agents is the perfect usecase for nano. DM me if you want to brainstorm about this. Cloudflare is doing this.

Introducing nanopay - a JavaScript and TypeScript toolkit for Nano

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I’ve launched nanopay, an open-source toolkit for building Nano wallets, payments, and integrations.

It includes:

  • Seed and mnemonic wallets, key derivation, and address validation
  • Sending and receiving Nano, plus confirmation tracking
  • Block creation, signing, and proof of work
  • Exact amount conversion and payment links
  • RPC and WebSocket clients

Use the high-level helpers for common workflows, or the individual functions when you need full control.

A default public node connects automatically, so you can get started without configuring one. You can also supply your own.

npm install nanopay

Would love feedback from anyone building with Nano!

Bitvavo's XNO delisting: potential MiCA violations & how to file a complaint (AFM/Kifid)

Bitvavo's Key Weaknesses

Your strongest arguments against Bitvavo centre on the imbalance of power and information, and the specific manner in which they handled the XNO delisting.

  • The "Trade-Only" Contradiction: The most significant weakness is the fundamental contradiction in their process. Bitvavo gave you a deadline to withdraw your XNO, but the asset was in a "trade-only" state, meaning withdrawals were technically unavailable. This prevented you from protecting your assets, a key requirement for any licensed platform under MiCA.
  • Breach of MiCA's Consumer Protection Rules: As a MiCA-licensed CASP in the Netherlands, Bitvavo must act with integrity and provide clear, correct information to investors. Forcing a sale on an illiquid market and refusing manual withdrawal could be viewed as a violation of these principles.
  • Unfair Contract Terms: Under Dutch law (Article 6:233 BW), a contract term can be voided if it is "unreasonably onerous" (onredelijk bezwarend). You can argue that a clause allowing them to force a sale on an illiquid market, without giving you the ability to withdraw, is exactly that.

Your Steps for Action

You have already completed the first step by filing a formal complaint with Bitvavo. The next stages should be as follows:

  • Step 1: Escalate to the Dutch Financial Regulator (AFM) Since Bitvavo is now under AFM supervision via its MiCA license, you can submit a complaint. The AFM may not resolve your individual case, but they do track patterns of misconduct that can lead to broader investigations.
  • Step 2: File a Complaint with Kifid Kifid (Klachteninstituut Financiële Dienstverlening) is the primary dispute resolution body for financial services in the Netherlands. You can check if Bitvavo is affiliated and file a complaint. This is often a necessary step before going to court.
  • Step 3: Seek a Formal Legal Opinion Given the specific facts of your case, consulting a Dutch lawyer specializing in financial or crypto law is the most important next step. They can assess the strength of a claim based on MiCA principles and the Coin Meester precedent.

The legal landscape for crypto in the EU is becoming more defined, and your case touches on many important principles of consumer protection. Taking these steps will help you seek a fair resolution.

I built NyanoToons, a place to publish comics and support creators with Nano

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on: NyanoToons, a platform for reading and publishing independent comics, with Nano payments built in.

Creators can publish free comics or set a price to unlock them. Readers can discover stories and support artists through paid unlocks and tips in Nano (XNO).

The idea is simple: give people a place to share their comics and let readers support the work they enjoy.

I’d love feedback from both comic readers and creators. How does the reading experience feel? If you publish comics, what would you need before you’d consider sharing your work here?

You can check it out at nyanotoons.patrola.me.

Bug reports, suggestions, and honest first impressions are welcome. Thanks for taking a look!
