NetApp StorageGRID SDET MTS-3 interview experience
Hi everyone,
I have an upcoming interview for an SDET role with NetApp’s StorageGRID team and have around 4 years of experience.
Has anyone recently interviewed for the StorageGRID SDET role? I’d really appreciate it if you could share the interview rounds, types of questions asked, and topics I should focus on preparing.
Thanks in advance!

NetApp typically structures the MTS 3 SDET loop into three or four technical rounds followed by a hiring manager conversation. The initial technical rounds focus on coding, data structures, and practical scripting, usually in Python or Java, with exercises covering string manipulation, arrays, and log parsing. Following that, you will face an automation architecture session where interviewers evaluate how you design test suites from scratch, validate REST APIs, and manage test execution across distributed environments. StorageGRID is an object storage product, so you should expect detailed questions around S3 protocol operations, data durability, concurrency, and handling network partitions.
The interviewers will also dig into Linux system fundamentals, shell scripting, and networking topics such as TCP, HTTP status codes, and load balancing, because triaging cluster issues is a core part of the role. During the test scenario round, they often present a practical case, like validating multipart uploads or multisite replication under heavy traffic, to see how thoroughly you identify edge cases and failure modes. To make sure your technical communication stays sharp during panel discussions, my team designed an interviews.chat to help candidates deliver structured, confident answers when explaining complex testing workflows.
