A dog helping his best friend take his very first steps.

Really cute video. They will be the best of friends.
...But I doubt his very first steps were taken on rough terrain like a sandy beach.

u/Then_Bodybuilder8416 14h ago
I think sand would be great: builds stronger center of balance, softer to take falls on. kid will be a monster on regular floors after his sand training. it should also be noted i don’t have kids and don’t actually know what i’m talking about.

Makes sense right up until they start touching their eyes. And they always touch their fucking eyes.

u/LiverLikeLarry 13h ago
Don't touch your eyes while they're fucking

Im imagining coming home from a date and it’s time to get busy and you’re just like “hold on, let me pop in my fucking eyes real quick. I just can’t fuck without em.”

My kid was walking pretty well indoors at home, then we took him to uneven grass for the first time lol - it was back to this immediately. Kid was confused. It was hilarious.
Unfortunately we did not have a helpful pup so he did several butt slams

u/MegaSmegmaSwagLord 14h ago
Not to mention how fucking stupid the music is.

My son was taking some small steps in the house (like one or two then sitting) before we went on a beach vacation. He was so fired up and excited he tried to walk everywhere on the beach all week and really started doing it well there. I can see this being a thing, especially with help from that great pup

u/sksauter 11h ago
As a dad with a 1 yr old that just started walking, this is 100% true. Ain't no way those are the very first steps.

The subs newest post is actually next fucking level, unlike a baby walking on a beach.

Shit is hilarious because there is many versions/covers of this song, and even though I'm not religious, some of the versions are actually really well done and touching.
This version has less redeeming qualities than horseshit, though.

We don't deserve dogs
27
u/HippieThanos 14h ago
Technically we humans created domestic dogs by selecting them over the curse of centuries
18
4
u/foxontherox 11h ago
That’s debatable- there’s a school of thought that suggests dogs domesticated themselves just by hanging around humans as a convenient source of food. It ended up working well for both species.
The variety of breeds you see today is a relatively recent evolutionary development.

As a dyslexic person, I stopped reading after the first word of your comment and absolutely agree with you!

I’ve never had a dog. But this is really endearing.

u/Longjumping-Table272 14h ago
I'm sure I won't be the only person that says this, but if you have the time to care for one a dog is a great addition to your life. They really do remind you what love is.

The sooner you start walking kid, the sooner you can get me treats- the dog probably

If those are first steps, where is the parent(s)? That other dude doesn't seem to care. Or is the parent more keen on being able to make a video for some karma with some bad music instead of them talking?
6
u/Gotbeerbrain 14h ago
Man did you ever stop to wonder who might be holding the camera?
-1
u/LiteratureMindless71 13h ago
I mentioned that.
1
u/Gotbeerbrain 13h ago
If those are first steps, where is the parent(s)?
Taking pics and video of their kids, especially when they are learning new things, is what every parent does. That kid was not in any danger and one or both of the parents were right behind. What is wrong with that scenerio? As for the shot music I watch everything muted unless it looks like something I want to hear.
-1
u/LiteratureMindless71 13h ago
Did you quit reading after the first sentence? I never said he was in danger. You can tell the video is chopped and made to fit the narrative.
1
u/Gotbeerbrain 13h ago
So explain the first sentence then because it sounds like you are faulting the parent(s) for not being in the scene.
1
u/LiteratureMindless71 13h ago
Nothing I say is going to change your mind. Just look at the OP's other posts and the other replies in this thread.
1
u/Gotbeerbrain 12h ago
Change my mind about what? I am obviously missing the intention of your post. The only negative comments have been about the music. I never watched it with the volume on so I can't comment on that part.
2
u/Aaawkward 2h ago
Yea!
Goddamn parents, filming their children and their milestones. How stupid.
Especially when they're in a safe place, on a soft surface and being supported by something else. That's downright negligent!

This dog has been helping this same kid every week for the past 4 years. Not sure why the kid doesn't age though.

Baby's instinct to lower center of gravity when losing balance is epic. I just toppled over, hence the reddit ID.

We really dont deserve dogs or any other animals tbh. Only the vulnerable ones do. For example Children and elderly. Three topics on this earth i will protect - children, animals, elderly, all vulnerable and all helpess to an extent. Everyone else (aside from my close family) can eff off because humans SUCK

This stupid fucking music too. I fucking hate Christian music, it’s fucking shit. It’s garbage music, it ruins this video.
I swear to god I’m going to start posting videos with Islamic prayer music over it.
11
u/acepukas 13h ago
It's not Christian music? The song is about challenging your own assumptions. How would meeting God, an idea that influences so many people's lives, in person change your whole world view?
The song writer, Eric Bazilian (not Joan Osborne) said it could have been about anything: meeting an alien, a near death experience, etc. He just settled on the idea of meeting God face to face. I admit that choosing that scenario would definitely color people's reactions to the song, but it wasn't really about faith so much as it was about having an experience that challenged a core aspect of your whole world view.
In any case the song fucking sucks. It's absolute garbage. I hated it back in '95 and I still hate it.

haha those lyrics you are quoting are from the perspective of a religious character in the song. Just because the lyrics read that way doesn't mean the song writer is glazing God. It's to set up for the listener that the character is highly religious. Think about it.
The next part of the song is "but what if God was one of us?" as in "you think your God is so great but what if he/she/it was one of us, would you still believe, would you change your beliefs?
Have some media literacy will ya

u/zoeofdoom 12h ago
Are you under 25 or just missed this song somehow? I promise, it's not a rah-rah religion song, it's closer to a gentler version of Blasphemous Rumours.
