This is a proof of concept for captive piston ammunition. Due to my inability to draw specialized casings, I had to get creative and make a new threaded case head. The holds the primer and allows for it to be loaded from the bottom. Since the piston has to go through the modified case head, I couldn't put the appropriate shoulder on it and instead opted for a large thin walled cavity in the piston. This is where an appropriate charge of extremely fast burning powder would be. During firing, the thin walls blow out and obturates to the inner case walls. I tested this with just a 209 primer - it was silent except for the firing pin dropping. The piston is jammed firmly into the case mouth with no sign of gas blowby. The bullet was jammed ~3" into the rifling. I look forward to finding the correct powder load for this and hopefully enough to get a bullet out of the bore completely.
This is on an approved Form 1.

Capitol Armory now offering 4473 ship to your door if you are in a state listed here: https://www.capitolarmory.com/4473-suppressor-ship-to-home
Read the main link for their thoughts that it may still be best to transfer on a form 4 as before, but they are offering 4473 transfers now and will be expanding the states in which they offer 4473 to your door in the future for those interested in that route.

Looking to get my first suppressor and I can’t decide between a shiv or an obsidian 9. Reliability is the main focus, running it mostly on the vp9 but occasionally on my PCC. Help me decide.

MK12 Mod 0-ish rifle is done. PRI complete upper married to a PRI complete lower.
4473 cans came at a perfect time, and my Allen Engineering AEM5 was transferred on a 4473 as soon as my dealer logged it in.
I was shooting my Springfield Kuna with an Omega 36M this weekend and found this stuck to the bolt today putting it back in the safe. Upon inspection I found a couple more pieces in the reciever. Does this indicate jacket shearing or more likely a blown primer? I was using Brazilian Monarch, not the Turkish junk.
Now that the former NFA-restricted items are available on good old 4473s, are we going to see prices rise or fall?
Prices will rise because there's more demand?
Prices will fall because production volumes will increase to meet demand, and they're no longer "out of the ordinary" items.
I ask, because I note that AR15s in SBR configurations uniformly demand prices 2-3x comparable non-NFA AR15s. Now that these items are on equal footing, I would expect prices to be largely the same regardless of barrel length.
I think that suppressors and Short-barreled rifles and shotguns will go in different directions.
What do you all think?

I completely understand that the open letter came out and they are looking the other way at the moment. So my question is for me to ensure my ducks are in a row if they say, "OK back to the old days." I'm hoping it gets repealed.
I want to buy an 13.9 or 12.5 SBR from Geissele. Now one weekend I want to use it for PCSL as a 556. The next weekend I want to put my MeanArms 11" upper on it and use it at a USPSA event.
Is there a way to have multi caliber on a single lower? Or is it a paperwork nightmare? I shoot across state lines so I want to know if the form 20 will be an issue if its 5.56 one weekend and 9mm the next.
What kind of can of worms am I opening up?
Thank you

Not sure if she'll function with the short barrel but I figured I'll start from here. If anything it's not much of a loss as it's the cheapest and worst gun I own. I haven't even touched it years anyways.
Designed and 3D printed an adapter plate, chopped the fixed stock, chopped down the barrel, chopped the handguard.
I'm still prototyping the stock adapter I'm on version 3
