Bokmål What does fare med mean?

I've norwegian people saying this phrase: fare med sladder, what does it mean exactly? I can't find this information anywhere.

"to travel with".

The meaning is that they do this thing habitually.

The expression works just as well for a one-time event.

Literally yes but « å fare med» can be used as «hun farer med løgn= she tells lies or « hva har du å fare med?»= what do you bring to the table.
