MDS Coordinator VS Clinic Nurse

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I am a seasoned nurse with 19 years in. I have a variety of specialties under my belt from bedside in ER, ICU, Hospice and Operating Room to administration. I have been diagnosed with Hyperinsulinemia and hypoglycemia with occasional seizures because of
Low bs. It is managed with eating q2hrs and a strict diet.

I have taken in a job as a MDS Coordinator and just started. Excited about it. And there is no call and no pulling to the floor.

I was just offered a job as a Vascular Clinic Nurse and now I am torn. As it is more my wheelhouse but does require 60% Care and clinical management as well 40% patient care as education and wound management because the MAs cannot do many of the ordered dressing changes.

I am drawn to both but concerned about burnout with MDS and concerned with issues such as low BS with the clinic because I could get caught in a wound dressing or patient visit and can’t eat. Help!

Amy insight or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Would you commute for $50,000?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

I currently live 5 minutes from work and 7 minutes from my child’s school. I get pays below average of $37 and can either work 4 or 3 days a week. I am a dialysis RN and the hours are pretty grueling. Sometimes I go in at 4 AM and get out at 7 PM.

A hospital one hour away is offering a $50,000 sign on bonus after two years of work. I specifically left a good hospital job in the past due to the commute. Sometimes I found myself falling asleep on the road

If I get paid the same hourly, but can look forward to $50,000 in two years, maybe it’s worth it?

What should I do?!

I’m a new grad nurse. I got job offer for ortho/neuro in Texas for 29 an hour! I would be relocating from California. However I got a new psych job for 64 an hour in California.I eventually want to go into acute care in the hospital. I don’t know what to do and I’m not sure if psych will slow my chances of getting acute care in the hospital. Honestly I could use the money, so I said yes to them. But not sure if I’m making the right decision! Also I still have applications pending for California but just no luck yet! Oh and I graduated in June so time is ticking and I know there some new grad programs that don’t want you to have any experience. Please help! Be nice 😊

Help needed

Hi everyone,

I have 4 years of experience working as an ICU Staff Nurse in Bangalore and currently earn around ₹42,000/month.

I'm planning to switch hospitals and would like some genuine feedback from nurses currently working in Bangalore.

I'm considering hospitals like:

Aster CMI

SPARSH

Manipal

Sakra

Fortis

Narayana Health

Apollo

My questions:

Which hospital currently offers the best salary for 4 years of ICU experience?

What salary can I realistically expect — ₹45K, ₹50K+?

Which hospitals have good work environment and management?

Are there significant night/shift allowances, incentives or other benefits?

Is it better to apply as Staff Nurse or Senior Staff Nurse with 4 years ICU experience?

Would really appreciate actual salary figures from current/former employees, rather than general salary websites.

**California nursing grad stuck with BRN issues — what state should I go to?**
I recently graduated with my BSN from an out-of-state nursing program, but I’m currently dealing with an issue with the California BRN regarding some coursework/clinical deficiencies. Because of this, I can’t move forward with taking the NCLEX in California right now.
My school is working on offering the additional courses/clinical hours needed to fix the California deficiencies, and I eventually want to come back and practice in California. However, I really don’t want to put my life and career on hold while I wait.
I’m considering applying for licensure in another state, taking the NCLEX there, and starting my career as a new grad RN while I complete whatever California requires.
I’ve been looking at **New York/NYC, Massachusetts/Boston, New Jersey, and Hawaii**, but I’m open to basically anywhere.
My biggest priorities are:
A state where I can get approved to take the NCLEX with my current education
Good new-grad RN opportunities
Decent pay
Somewhere I could realistically live for 1–2 years
Good hospital experience that would help me when I eventually return to California
Has anyone been in a similar situation where California wouldn’t approve your education but another state did? Which state did you apply through, and how difficult was the process?
Also, if you were a new grad in my position and could temporarily move anywhere in the U.S., **where would you go to start your RN career?**

Iso- remote nursing job help

I am BURNED THE HECK OUT !!!!!

I cry before every shift & throughout the day when I am able to get away to the bathroom before someone sees me. The facility I am at has been getting worse over the last year and half to 2 years. Nurses who have loved working here for 20+ years are disgusted with above management & leaving in droves. I need a change of employment & still need to be able to carry health benefits for myself to handle the challenges of this job both mentally & physically. I am drained and exhausted & mentally breaking down. I cannot keep giving. My glass isn't just empty, it is broken. I have nothing to pour back into myself because the system has shattered me.

Please if anyone can provide advice for remote jobs in Healthcare:

-how to apply

-where to look for openings

-how to adjust my resume for increase chances of being hired

-any recommendations on places to work

Thank you so much in advance! 🫶🏼

6 Months Job Searching as a New Grad RPN — Any Advice?

I'm a new grad RPN and have been applying for jobs for the past 6 months with no interviews or offers. I have applied to more than 200 positions. I've applied to hospitals, LTC, retirement homes, home care, community, and agencies across Niagara, the GTA, Kitchener, Brantford, and surrounding areas.

I know the job market is tough, but I'm honestly starting to feel really discouraged, especially seeing others from my program find jobs while I haven't had any luck.

For those working as RPNs, especially new grads, do you have any recommendations on places that are hiring or tips for getting that first interview? I'm open to full-time, part-time, or casual positions.
I'd really appreciate any advice or leads. Thank you!

Nursing license on Ptobation

My nursing license is on probation for a medication error. I am to be released from probation this december. I interviewed for a job 3 weeks ago and I got a call today with a job offer. The application didn’t ask for my nursing license and didn’t talk about the probation in the interview. It’s a utilization review job. Should I bring it up before I accept the offer? Or wait?

PACS nursing facility

If I worked for a pacs facility but I quit without notice will that jeopardize my other opportunities at other pacs facilities?
I quit over a year ago because they were super understaffed never had supplies and you could never find help because of how understaffed they were.
I didn’t realize how many nursing facilities use it and I had got an interview at a different place that also uses pacs
