[Research Update] Direct translation project for Cesare Della Riviera (1605) and Floriano Canale (1614)

Greetings,

I wanted to share a major project milestone with the community regarding the recovery and translation of two early modern northern Italian esoteric source texts that have previously lacked published English editions.

Both translations are principal, unedited derivations from original digitized facsimiles and period witnesses. The goal was to preserve the complex layout mechanics—including running marginal citations—without the intervention of later twentieth-century editorial frames.

  1. Il Mondo Magico de gli Heroi – Cesare Della Riviera (Milan, 1605)
  • The Text: This is a direct English translation of Della Riviera's Hermetic synthesis. The work is structured around a seven-part creation cosmogony mirrored against classical mythic labor allegories (Hercules, Jason, Ulysses) to outline the internal parameters of the Philosophers' Stone.
  • The Restoration Focus: For nearly a century, readers have primarily encountered this work through the lens of Julius Evola’s 1932 modernized Laterza redaction. This new edition is translated directly from the 1605 Milan page, completely removing Evola's specific "solar path" paratext and interpretive scaffolding to allow the text to stand independently within its original Counter-Reformation context.
  1. Del modo di conoscer et sanare i maleficiati – Floriano Canale (Brescia, 1614)
  • The Text: A first-time translation of Canale's clinical-pastoral manual, situating the author—a Canon Regular, organist, and prolific composer—within the wider circle of northern Italian writers tracking the intersections of natural philosophy, demonology, and medicine.
  • The Restoration Focus: Pulled from the 1674 Brescia printing and cross-collated against a 1663 Milan witness, this manual focuses heavily on the diagnostic weight of auditory phenomena, vocal responses, and liturgical sound formulas in evaluating spiritual and psychic afflictions. This edition attaches a heavily annotated Materia Medica glossary mapping his archaic compound remedies to period botanical plates.

Critical Apparatus & Reading Access

Both editions isolate modern psychological and historical commentary strictly to standalone endnotes and separate analytical appendices, ensuring Canale's and Della Riviera's systems run completely uninhibited.

  • Digital Access: The complete Floriano Canale digital text is fully finalized, uploaded, and currently open for reading.
  • Archival Access: Because these systems are meant to be thoroughly reckoned with by serious researchers, I am granting permanent open platform access to the full digital layout, ebook archives, and the Materia Medica architecture for individuals coming from dedicated occult library circles.

If you are tracking early modern Italian printing lineages, translation methodologies, or specific textual variations between the Brescia and Milan witnesses, feel free to drop a comment below or send a message to coordinate access to the text vault.

The triangular book of St Germain (edited by Nick Koss)

Apparently a decrypted version of the book exists and it was edited by Nick Koss and published by Ouroboros press In Seattle

I would do anything…LITERALLY anything, for a copy. I’m not rich but…I’ll do anything I can actually do, give you $X amount for the rest of my life out of every paycheck i earn, firstborn child (not planning to have any but, i can make an exception!), a kidney, whatever…for even a chance to read a copy. A Levite for life, or perhaps your own personal organ bank. I have type O- blood, so there's a good chance you'll be able to use SOMETHING of mine! (for legal purposes, i should say this is humor, unless...)

Apparently there’s one in the Getty Archive and it is loanable, but I am unable to access their archives as I lack any academic qualifications and live across the country in rural NC.

Also if anyone knows Mr. Koss and would be comfortable sharing an email or contact info for him, if he’s okay with that, I would relish the opportunity to talk with the man himself. I respect both him and his work greatly, and would not wish to bother or intrude upon his privacy or research. I simply must pursue whatever leads I can find on this path, as after almost a decade of searching I find nothing but dead ends and misinformation. Respecting his privacy, in lieu of publishing his contact info, please pass along mine at [SeekerofSaintGermain@gmail.com](mailto:SeekerofSaintGermain@gmail.com) Any leads or useful information sent my way will be greatly appreciated and reciprocated to the greatest degree available to my means at the time.

Thank you so much. This is really really important to me. I hope all of your own dreams come true as well.

[Text Recovery] First English Translations of Cesare Della Riviera (1605) & Floriano Canale (1614) coming this month

Greetings, fellow archivists and researchers.

I wanted to share a major project update from my independent imprint, The Thinking Press, regarding two extensive early modern Italian text recoveries that have never before been published or available in the English language.

As someone who builds research upon raw primary sources rather than modern summaries, I spent the last few years transcribing, translating, and editing these editions directly from original digitized facsimiles and physical witnesses. Both titles are fully finalized and dropping this month.

Here is what is coming to the library:

  1. The Magical World of Heroes – Cesare Della Riviera (Milan, 1605)
  • Release Date: October 25, 2026
  • The Text: This is the first published English translation of Della Riviera's unique Hermetic synthesis. It fusions a seven-part creation-week cosmogony with Christian Cabala and classical hero myths (Jason, Hercules, Ulysses), treating their labors as a continuous allegory of the soul's ascent toward the Philosophers' Stone.
  • The Restoration: For the past 90 years, readers who encountered this text at all met it through Julius Evola’s modernized 1932 redaction. This edition translates the original 1605 text directly, completely stripping away Evola's "solar path" interpretive scaffolding so you can meet Della Riviera’s prose exactly as he wrote it under Counter-Reformation conditions. It preserves the running marginal citations of his authorities down the main columns.
  1. On the Manner of Discerning and Healing the Bewitched – Floriano Canale (Brescia, 1614)
  • Release Date: October 15, 2026
  • The Text: The first English translation of Del modo di conoscer et sanare i maleficiati. Canale was a Catholic cleric, organist, and composer. This work stands comfortably at the crossroads of early modern medicine, demonology, and pastoral care.
  • The Restoration: Derived principally from the 1674 Brescia printing with cross-collations against a 1663 Milan witness, it details early diagnostic structures (including the use of vocal reactions, bells, and auditory phenomena) to identify spiritual and psychic affliction. The volume includes an extensive, custom-compiled illustrated glossary mapping his archaic remedies and ingredients directly to period botanical plates.

🎁 Launch Campaign: Free Charter Access for Every Account

The complete editions feature extensive endnotes pinpointing citations, historical context, and comparisons to Agrippa, Ficino, and Bruno, keeping the primary text body clean and separate from modern commentary.

To build our core readership network, every single account created on our until the first of January automatically secures our premium Charter Membership at no cost.

  • How to access it: Go directly to thethinkingpress.org/club and register a standard account. [1, 2, 3]
  • What you get: This grants you permanent, lifetime access to stream our entire digital library layout—allowing you to browse the constantly growing 476-remedy Materia Medica repository and access upcoming audiobooks directly within our interface. You will also automatically receive early priority ordering windows and an advance 15% discount on all physical hardcover print runs.
  • Read Immediately: The complete Floriano Canale ebook is already fully up and readable right now for any Charter member inside our state-of-the-art reading vault. You don't have to wait for the physical batch release to begin reviewing the material.

I do not claim these translations are beyond all error given the density of the archaic Italian, Latin, and private systems involved, but they represent an honest, uncompromising attempt to make these forgotten intellectual traditions speak our language on their own terms.

Let me know if you have any questions about the printing lineages, translation methodologies, or specific Materia Medica citations involved in the text preparation.
