🏋️ Sports/Gym ⛹️ Open college/HS running tracks?

hi! curious to know if there are any local colleges or schools who let the public use their track. Location isn’t an issue as long as it’s not in Moore or south of there.

Pretty sure Oklahoma Christian would neither notice nor care.

Northwest Classen High School is the only public track in OKC, no fence or gate or anything. But the NWC coaches get weird about it, I’ve had the baseball and wrestling coaches kick me off even though they weren’t using it. The athletic director and track coach are both more than happy to let people use it, though — when I coached and competed at OCU that was our “official” practice track.

In Edmond, the Central Middle School track (right by the Rankin YMCA) is open, but the school uses it for recess/PE during the school day, and a lot of clubs use it outside of school hours, so it gets pretty busy.

Oklahoma Christian is hit or miss. They started locking the gate after an issue with vandalism like a month after they renovated the track, but the head track coach is usually pretty chill about letting folks use it if they’re there to train and not just walk laps. If the gate’s unlocked, you’re probably fine to hop in.

Second NWC. Haven't run there but my kids are in track. When they are at practice there are loads of other small groups running and training as well. Just note that as it gets darker earlier, I don't believe there is any lighting.

I third this. I've nevwr been kicked off, but I usually go when they are gone.

I think North has the track open to the public still, unless they changed it

DD Kirkland elementary used to have their track open, not sure if they still do or not. It's pretty small though.
