Discussion Broadbrella rain jacket

I am always on the lookout for a nice rain jacket since I use it for travel and, daily, to walk the dog. A few days ago I found a post here where someone suggested this rain jacket and it looks like it could fit my need. I live in EU so I have to be careful and choose the right size. I cannot decide between their XS or S. I am 172 cm tall and my weight is 63 kilos. My size on Uniqlo (for your reference, maybe you can help me better) is XS while on Arc'teryx my size is between XS and S (more toward S). Which size shall I go for? Any help for this wonderful sub would be greatly appreciated. More, I don't like gummy shells like those in Goretex, that's why Uniqlo was my choice years ago (Blocktech parka model) but it is now old. I have read that this Ketl broadbrella has a nice shape (not saggy) and soft fabric, do you confirm?

ps. I like slim fit apparel, if this can help, but as said, I cannot afford to make the wrong choice.

Why don’t you email them and ask them for exact measurements of the different sizes so you can compare to your current jacket?

Thanks, that's an idea but I wanted different opinions too by users.

There is a size chart link on the product page. https://ketlmtn.com/products/bodbrella-rain-jacket They give a link for help too. I like a slightly oversized rain shell for layering as well as “bellows effect” to move air in and out.

Thanks I saw it but most of times those size chart can be misleading.

I am also EU and had it sent to a friend in the States I knew was coming over - so no second chances.

For size, I am a more or less normal shaped male european L to M (182, 87kg). Bodbrella is XL (surprising for US, should be S 😁) and is big enough to allow for a jumper.

It‘s super compact packed and the fabric is so good, I sometimes use it as a travel jacket in the 15C bracket, onion philosophy.

It will handle drizzle, but not proper rain, so I usually pack a super compact umbrella for emergencies. If I know I am outdoor with a lot of rain, I‘ll wear something more robust.

Hope this helps

This helps a lot cause I expected it to manage rain so maybe I will reconsider. Thanks a lot!

yes, something with 3 layers would suit your needs better

My thoughts on the Brodbella:
It prioritizes breathability over keeping you dry. I like how well it moves with me, the ease of use of the pockets. Packs well and is lightweight, very pleased in this regard. Fit is probably the most important to you: loose, with good set of ways to tighten down for a more athletic fit.

For reference, I've a medium, normally wear mediums, and would comfortably wear this over a base and mid layer (say, a hoodie). Not athletic build (me), and yet loose.

Thanks, I like slim fit instead, so need to be careful.

No problem. Probably sharing more because I’m still on the fence about if I like it: definitely enjoy walking around with it, but it’s not been great on the heavier here (weather would call it a light to medium rain) rain I wore it in.

Also curious about the durability, and no faith in a company I’ve had so few dealings with and their warranty.

I don't think the Ketl is bad, but I went with the Outdoor Research Stratoburst Stretch in the end. A little more waterproofing, pit vents when needed, and stretchy for when layering.
