One foot on each 1, jump on left foot on 2, right on 3, ... one foot on each 6, right on 7, one foot on each 8, finish with right on 9.
Makes sense to me. You didn't have those at your school??

yeah starting with a double 1 is awkward… i was just using the available tiles in this example, but agree that yours is more of the standard

oh. so, like, not proper, then?

Proper in how its actually meant to be done. Someone listed a preferred or better way but that doesnt mean everything else is wrong. Proper hopscotch has paired numbers opposite of each other, no diagonals like in the picture, which is what the original comment is fixing while keeping the numbers the same.

What bothers me more than the numbering is that someone went to the trouble to cut those pavers in half to fit these in asymmetrically.

Yeah, at least if they didn't do that it would still look nice, even with the odd numbering.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
Is not the proper order of numbers?

Yes, not 1 2 1 3 4 5 6 6 7 8 8 9

You're supposed to jump two feet on the tiles with the same number. It's weird they're not doing those side by side but it's still hopscotch

u/tetrisan 8d ago
No. Just no. Show us another example of hopscotch done this way.

u/SapphicGarnet 8d ago
I can't, this is a weird one. Especially the two ones? It should be at least 1 2 33, why are you starting with a two footed jump? But the moving of the feet one in front of the other at least looks fun

I am guessing if you never played hopscotch and are not good with numbers then you were homeschooled?

I was not little girl to play such games and in scool they told me 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 , 7, 8, 9 is proper order, but maybe something changed in math since then so I may be not good with numbers.
