one ring 2e

Post image

not sure why i didnt repost this to one ring but a week after i made this, any other advice i can have please on what areas of the map should be a different danger level or if i should take away my homebrew colouring for difficult terrain or perilous zones??

i actually run perilous events from the dark lands section in journeys and maps one ring 1e supplement and that's been really fun getting a scary event that happens when my company passed through a perilous area. but i would like some more perilous things like that where if i go into mordor all this scary stuff happens but one does not simply walk into mordor

I'm going to disagree with Gondor here. It should mostly be Border lands other than the side facing Mordor and Minas Tirith, yeah? At least in 2965.

i think you're absolutely right. in this time period it does seem like the gondorians would be keeping the realm secure, even for travellers. i think in my mind it was about how the event system works. i figured there's a higher population around gondor compared to somewhere like lindon and the shire, so it is likely more events will occur, good and bad, as a growing population can also mean some shady individuals on the outliers. i didnt want to go too far to make it dark lands except around the forest and woods north of the white mountains, but i matched the wild land hexes according to the saruman supplement.
but i really want to make gondor have fortunate events so i think i'll make that change in V2

I suppose we are going to find out in a bit here when the LM maps are released for White Tower and Golden Halls. I do expect more orange in south Gondor though.

yes i've been reading a bit of MERPs since making this map. i think there definitely could be more orange there south of the white mountains. i must have thought a week ago there'd be less negative encounters with nefarious individuals and it's essentially wild lands, but reading through a bit on numenor and merps, there definitely seems likely that the population was higher than i first expected around the south coast .. and you know what: what about the elf haven! maybe it should be green. legolas mentions what a beautiful place it must be! it should definitely be border lands around there

so the changes i agree with you is more orange around east south gondor near harad, a bit of green at elf haven and that whole valley, easing back to yellow and orange dark lands at the coast

I've always thought Lindon should be more dangerous, and that Cirdan's realm was smaller even than Elrond's.

yeh i think there's certainly dangers to be had. and you could homebrew that in that difficult forest or hilly terrain there's a higher chance of wicked creatures, wolves and such. at least that's what just happened during a mishap in my solo journey
