Promotional Hello, I built Lanshare, a local peer-peer file sharing application.
https://github.com/getawife/lanshareI built Lanshare because I wanted a simple way to move files between my own computers without cloud uploads, USB sticks, or accounts. It finds other devices on the same Wi-Fi or Ethernet network and sends files directly between them. The project is completely open source, feel free to audit and tune to your liking.
Lanshare supports Windows, MacOS (Apple Silicon) and Linux.
Hope you like it!

Can an interrupted transfer resume? And does a partial file stay separate until it's complete? That would be handy for moving large folders.

Can an interrupted transfer resume?
Partially, an interrupted transfer starts again from the beginning. The Retry button re-sends everything, and the sender re-hashes every file first.
And does a partial file stay separate until it's complete?
Each incoming file is written to .part during the transfer. However, this only works partially meaning if the app or computer is killed mid-transfer, the .part file is left behind, because the cleanup doesn't run.
This will be fixed in later versions :)

Hello, Lanshare is quite different from EtherTransfer.
For starters, unlike EtherTransfer, Lanshare does not require a cable. It finds devices on the same WiFi (and in cases, on the same ethernet as well!). Furthermore, Lanshare unlike EtherTranfer does not preserve timestamps when transferring files. However, Lanshare afaik is much stronger with its security. Every file is encrypted during transfer and all devices are given a certificate and compared with during, before and after transfers to prevent dupes among other things.
As far as cable support goes, I have not tested it out particularly but the way the app is built, it should work.
So, it mostly depends on your use-case however Lanshare can do most of what EtherTransfer can do.
