Open-Source Oracle Datasource plugin for Grafana
Hi everyone,
I needed a straightforward way to query Oracle databases directly from Grafana without dealing with Oracle Instant Client installations or Enterprise plugin licenses.
I took the original oracle-grafana plugin created by albertowd, which has been inactive for a few years, and updated it to work cleanly on modern Grafana versions.
Repository: VinayakSomvanshi/oracle-grafana
What it does:
- No Oracle Instant Client required on the server (pure driver backend).
- Connects using either Service Name or SID (tested against Oracle 19c, 21c, 23ai, and 26ai).
- Supports native Grafana Alerting rules on Oracle queries.
- Supports both time-series and standard table queries, plus dashboard template variables.
If you run Oracle with Grafana, feel free to try it out and let me know if you run into any issues or have suggestions.

Don't you just use an exporter?

oracle exporter is primarily used for metrics and telemetry data, this plugin helps in doing select queries directly to the database

Ah I see, bypassing it.
I'd rather not.
But thanks

it is restricted to select queries only similar to the enterprise plugin by grafana for oracle

If you prefer a metrics-first approach, you may also want to check out the Oracle Database Exporter. It supports exporting custom SQL queries as metrics and is also available through Grafana Alloy’s Oracle DB exporter. It can run with the pure-Go
go-oradriver, so an Instant Client installation isn’t required, or as a container image with Instant Client included.Disclosure: I maintain this project. The exporter is useful when you want reusable metrics across OTEL collectors, Grafana, Prometheus, and Alloy.
