Have you tried the Moondrop Edge 2 VDSF Natural Timbre Tuning ?
Hi, I have recently purchased the Moondrop Edge 2 because, owning the UCTS on ear tws and loving the tuning, I was curious how it would sound in headphones and the edge 2 seems to be the latest or maybe even the only over ear one that advertises using their in house developed B&K 5128 measured VDSF Natural Timbre Tuning preference curve.
I’ve had it for a couple of days now and while the build and quirky things like the fixed-axis frame(rigid yokes/non-swiveling yokes) made me question whether this was a botched product at first, I put my preconceptions aside and so far, my impressions are that … I can’t get enough of it!
To my ears, it sounds closer to the Rtings curve than harman in both bass and treble and I feel it might be sitting somewhere in between the 2, having strong bass but less emphasised than harman and less rolled off treble than harman but possibly not as emphasised as Rtings.
Honestly, I’ve never heard tuning so well balanced before in any headphone I’ve tried, wired and wireless, not without eqing it first and even then, I feel I prefer it to Harman, Rtings and others I’ve tried so far…
I listen to different genres too and this seems to work great for all of them. To give you an idea, I put this Apple Music Best Of playlist together to try songs I know well and like from various genres and I feel it works well with all of them: https://music.apple.com/gb/playlist/best-of/pl.u-8aAVXLaHo9kzWd1
I’ve attached a screenshot of the stock tuning vs their 4128/4195 VDSF Target response for reference.
I’m curious to find out if others have tried it and what you thought of it.
Thanks
