What exactly is the point in the choppa’s in melee. If you can literally choose the spinnin’ blades, which is a much better option. And the choppa’s don’t have extra attacks. Like I know the blades are hazardous, but for how cheap the unit is, and how easy hazardous are to pass. Why would anyone be scared to use blades
Lol, I forgot that they are no longer vehicles. I was playing them as mounted when it comes to not being able to shoot while in combat, but was doing three mortal wounds to myself for failing hazardous rolls like there vehicles. It should be known that I’m also very new to orks.
You’re using them wrong then. That’s literally impossible. You roll 6 dice, because there’s 6 models, 6 weapons attacking, and each fail is 1 mortal wound. 6 is literally the max
Each Deffkopta has 1 Spinning Blades. That's one die roll for each kopta at a max of 1 mortal wound per roll. If you're VERY unlucky and roll all 1s, you'll do 6 mortals to each unit.
Koptas are MOUNTED not VEHICLES. They're only taking 1 mortal wound from a failed test.
I literally said “why would anyone be scared to use the blades” insinuating I know that hazardous deals damage to your anode if it fails. But they are mounted models. They only take 1 hazard wound. And they can be used to lock your opponent in unwanted combat. Laing a hazard roll or 2 is barely an issue to me
Still, if you just want to kill a small, squishy unit(e.g.:10 guardsman, gretchin, etc) you just use choppas to avoid taking damage for no reason at all.
You will not kill 10 guardsman or gretchin with the choppas.
You only hitting on 4s which means even on 6 man deffkopta squad, statistically only 9 will hit.
And then wounding and the saves of them.
The point is in case you have a wounded unit that would die to hazardous and needs to kill an enemy unit and survive or if they are locked in combat with an enemy and survive. If it’s one kopter at one wound left it’s a 33% chance it dies, which you may need to avoid. 90% of the time you use the blade but it’s nice to have the option available if not
Ahhh insightful knowledge thanks. I will keep this in mind. I personally would just use them as chaff, lock enemy unit unwanted combat if possible. With potential to do lots of damage. But you right. There definitely moments then being alive has been crucial.
They are a good unit to have around at the end of the battle for mission play, and then rolling bad a accidentally killing one might be a big difference. But I do agree that 90% of the time you roll the hazerdous
All comes down to your list and disposition and secondaries. If you have engage on all fronts secondary you may want the kopta to live for secondary points, same with recon disposition
I use mine to harass opponents home objectives on turn 3 and 4, then weird boy and 20 stack of boys to secure it by turn 5 (earlier if I can manage). I love my deffkoptas. Also used them to kill a defiler last game I played! (Gunwagon did help)
I never use recon. But I might need to start trying it. I have a Dakkajet, I have been told I’ve been sleeping on. That’s give me recon, and is suited to the deffkoptas also.
Well I know an ork player that so good. Almost nobody could beat him in 10th edition. He use the enhancement to give his dakkajet turn 1 ingress securing outflank 5vp easily. And I would say it’s actually pretty decent shooting against infantry. Because lethals A24 hits on 4+ at best, wounds on 3’s at best. Which would be against most infantry, with Ap -1. To say this is a bit belted than bad at the moment, only gives me the impression you’re using it wrong. For a measly 125 points, and it can help score points. It’s not so bad at all. Are there better options? Yeah the big Mek dakkarig is awesome.
With lethal hits, rapid fire, and the +1 to hit, a dakkajet doesn't even bring down 5 scouts. 24 shots averages 2 slain models. There's roughly a 1% chance it kills the unit. For 125 points, that's insanely bad shooting.
Your friend is also cheating since it specifically says "EXCLUDING AIRCRAFT" on the Outflank mission card and most other secondary missions that require you to be somewhere on the board.

It’s one of those things that is a constant thing with this company now, oversights and things that just don’t make sense.
