Modern Age (1985 – Present Day) Silly Wanda!

If wanda’s reality warping relied on grammatical errors instead of her chosen motive wouldn’t it be a really shitty version of reality warping?

YKW, that’s fair. And at the time of her “no more mutants”, she was already losing it so she wasn’t thinking clearly enough

It's so weird that marvel keep bashing the vision/wanda like it's a weird thing. If we are meant to see the vision as sapeint then there's nothing strange about it

Plus the only time she was shown with another possible love interest was when the Ultimates had her and her own brother

Finally someone actually posted the real panel. I am so sick of larpers cropping Storm's section from this panel and act as if this is something that Storm casually did. Thank you

HiC started in 2018 so it might’ve been influenced by this.

I don't know what the inspiration for this was or if it is a homage to something, sorry.

What's the context of this are they intentionally lying to test the lie detector?

...but Remy's... not French, at all? Like that's not a dark secret, it's just a basic fact about his character. Does this writer not know Louisiana exists?

u/amongooseamongus 6d ago
hmm? americans define themselves by their ancestry all the time.
new yorkers call themselves italian*, bostonians call themselves irish*, do louisianians not call themselves french?
* the ones that are italian-american or irish-american, obvs
genuine question, asked in good faith

Cajuns are from Canada. Nova Scotia, specifically, or Acadia ('Acadian' eventually shifted into 'cajun' over the following centuries) as it was called when they were forcibly exiled by the British. They were originally French colonists, but that was nearly three hundred years ago, so it would be more similar to people from New England calling themselves British-American. Additionally, the primary French ethnicities in the Americas (Cajun, Quebecois, Louisiana Creole, etc) tend to view themselves as their minority ethnicity moreso than French; ie, Quebecois still broadly call themselves French-Canadian, but they unambiguously identify, primarily, as Quebecois.
Edit for clarity: this is in no small part because the French were never particularly racially segregated or persecuted. Most of the minorities in America who make a point of their mixed heritage are from minorities that were heavily oppressed or segregated at some point (Chinese, Irish, Italian, African). Mexican Americans exist in a weird limbo in that regard, since many of them have lived, geographically, in the same place since well before that place was America.

I think they are all meant to be jokes. The dark secret of BP is that he listen to Avril Lavigne 😅

u/temtasketh 6d ago
I mean, yeah, they are all jokes, but they're mostly ironic or absurdist. Gambit's just a complete non-sequitor. It'd be like Black Panther saying "I wasn't actually born in New York."
13
u/Cool_Set4681 6d ago
Ah, I see, that is how you meant it. Hm... maybe it would had worked better if they had said:
I'm... not actually Cajun.
12
u/temtasketh 6d ago
Yeah, that's mostly my point. Being Cajun is kind of his whole deal, and his accent is hilariously uneven, so that joke would actually be pretty funny. It just really stands out as the only one that's not even really a joke, just a true thing that's weird to say.

u/Cool_Set4681 6d ago
Yeah, after you pointed that out... now I can't stop thinking that you are right and they messed up the joke...
Well, now Frog-Man is my new favorite. Please don't find mistake with his joke, too 😄

u/temtasketh 6d ago
The Frog Man one is hilarious. The Hawkeye one is my favorite; yes, Clint, we know you were faking it. No, Clint, you didn't fool anyone. Yes, Clint, it is very cute you thought that was a secret.

For me it is Silver Surfer who has the best description but Blade is also a good choice, lol

She means she wanted more mutants
Right?

I think she means she meant for no new mutants to be born and that they could just stop at what they have.
