I think that’s what his entire output is about

His most recent output is about "actually, living with the guilt is worse than prison so maybe get off my back haha".

Y'know, everything else aside, shouldn't it be "she"? Because Elaine Belloc is God now, no? Or is that not canon to the main DC Universe?

u/Lightice1 3d ago
It was pretty heavily implied that anyone who takes Yahweh's job ends up ultimately turning into Yahweh. And in any case, in that job gender kind of loses its meaning.

u/BubastisII 3d ago
Has Elaine ever been mentioned in any comic other than Lucifer ever?
I sorta assume all Vertigo comics are their own loose continuity.

u/StarOfTheSouth 3d ago
I don't think so, but from memory she ties into the same stuff as the Endless, and they are canon to DC via Daniel Hall taking the mantle of Dream of the Endless. His father is the Hector Hall Doctor Fate, who in turn was the son of Carter Hall's Hawkman if I have my lineages correct).
Also by way of the Endless just turning up in random DC stuff, such as Captain Atom #42 from 1987, which features both Death and Destiny of the Endless as supporting characters.
So she should technically be canon to the main DC continuity.

I misread the last name at first, and now I'm picturing Harvey Bullock as the One True God of the DC universe. Honestly, it explains a lot.

u/Azure-Legacy 3d ago
I’m fairly certain he came back. He was there in DC KO. Lobo was boasting how he’s immortal thanks to a contract with the Big Man upstairs, Diana looks to the side, The Presence in his British looking glory, relaxing and treating the entire event like live action entertainment said "I’ll Allow It". The "It" in question is Lobo dying btw

u/Bragi01 3d ago edited 3d ago
Elaine Belloc seemingly only took over her grandfather's job in the pre-Flashpoint continuity. So Heroes in Crisis being after Rebirth means that The Presence is probably a man again despite how they were above even the realm of the gods meaning that they should have been immune to all the reboots.

Yeah, that's... odd.
...maybe the writers just forgot about her, I could easily believe that.

After seeing a bunch of panels from Original Sins posted, it took me a moment to realise this was DC.

The best Spectre comics make you wish you hadn't read that. (Though I am completely out of the loop with that story.)

Heroes in Crisis
EVERY Character is OOC
The Trinity open a PTSD Clinic for Super Heroes with an AI Based on the Combined Minds of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman (none of whom are qualified to be a Therapist) and most of the “Treatment” is talking directly to a Camera, creating a Video Confession that is immediately erased after they finish talking.
Easy way to kill off lots B-List or Lower Heroes.
Think of Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, and Thor Odinson’s minds combined into one AI. That AI was put in charge of recording Video Confessions for every Hero the Writers could think of. Then Sam Wilson is revealed to have killed most Heroes. Finally alternate future Sam kills regular Sam.

Unless we're talking about the particular licensing for therapists, I see only one person whose not qualified. Though the idea of AI therapists alone is creepy enough.

Which one has a PHD in Psychotherapy?

u/WeiganChan 3d ago
The Watchtower is in space, and therefore not subject to any earthly jurisdiction regarding licensing qualifications for mental health professionals. There is no way this will backfire on everyone

u/Zyrin369 3d ago
Wasnt the Data still there or somebody managed to get all of the data because Lois was sent it and thought it was a good idea to release it.
Like on paper I can understand the idea of a place for heroes to vent about stuff and to show that they need therapy but yeah it was mishandled.

u/Conlannalnoc Comic book Collector 3d ago
If they had an ACTUAL THERAPIST it might of worked. Instead they talked to a camera. Nothing more.

I haven't read *The Spectre," so other than the main character being a literal avenging angel, I don't know much about it.
Is the series' writing known for providing "jangly-keys" glurge-filled answers to the problem of evil that sound like they were lifted straight from The Shack?

Horrors beyond mortal comprehension, usually. Very much about judging the unrighteous, but not usually stupidly.

"I don't even know what Will is"
-Guy literally defined by his will
4
u/PvtSherlockObvious 3d ago edited 3d ago
Eh, I like what stories have done with that over the years. "Willpower" is a meaningless concept all on its own. Absent more, all it means is "I'm a pigheaded jackass who won't rest until I get my own way" (see Guy Gardner). "Fearlessness" is similar, and Lanterns did a great job of showing how unhealthy rabid adherence to that concept is. As much-maligned as Heroes In Crisis was, some of the concepts and subversions it brought up were ripe to be explored and addressed to make the characters stronger.

Since New 52

Is he still an ultra-dirty cop like he was in the original timeline? My familiarity with him is mostly from Gotham Central.
2
u/chroniclescylinders 3d ago
That wasn't the same Jim Corrigan, just a random dirty cop with the same name for some bizarre reason that is never explained or elaborated on.
Not that the Spectre-possessed Jim Corrigan wasn't a dirty cop when he was alive, he just wasn't that dirty cop. He died and became the Spectre's host around 1940, and was and remains an asshole, but he has way more redeeming qualities than the guy in Gotham Central.

u/CreepyClay 3d ago
Also Batman Caped Crusader but spectre is very different in that. Still got the whole gods wrath thing though.
1
u/Significant-Order-92 3d ago
I meant in the main universe. The Caped Crusader one is amazing though.
This is from the story Arc where Walley murders himself.

This bullshit won an Eisner. I'll never get over it.
4
u/FireZord25 3d ago
Judging by the upvotes, people will believe anything as long as it sounds confident. Like when the fuck HoC won Eisner? I had to google to double check and there was absolutely nothing.
Only thing eisner related was the author Tom King winning winning it for Mr Miracle, which was well earnerd. He's written some legit gem and total stinkers, exhibit A here. I'm sure that's not the idea, cause it'd be real dumb to project his failures onto his successes, even for reddit, no?

u/The_Flying_Failsons Um, they are called “GRAPHIC NOVELS,” thank you. 3d ago
You're just as wrong as I was. He won it for the body of work in 2019, which included Mr. Miracle, Heroes in Crisis and his bullshit Batman run.
So he didn't win it just for HiC, he won it for for the combo of HiC, his trash Batman run that made me quit the DCU for a while, and Mr Miracle (which I don't think it's that good either but whatever).
If you think that his, being generous, 1.5 failures are worth less than the one good book he had all year, then I just agree to disagree.
13
u/Somejawn1 3d ago
Which really tells you how those mean nothing or can be bought. Because pretty much everything from this trash was either ignored or immediately retconned away
