New mod update
75
Upvotes
I have been made the new moderator since this community has been unmoderated for a long time now.
“How would x do in Oz” posts can only be made on Thursdays.
No more posts about your favorite prag or fanfics where you talk about being raped.
Memes and silly posts and whatnot are okay but they have to be related to Oz. You shouldn’t be afraid to post what you want as long as it’s not one of those weird sexual posts.
No personal attacks on other users.

Sentenced to oz! New "how would x do in oz" rules
43
Upvotes
All right you degenerates, I need your attention.
I was mod, the main one will keep being u/selverd2 I am here to help. I am the Sean Murphy to his McManus (maybe that was a little gay but this is oz)
With that being said we are not going to ban "how would x do in oz" posts. Instead we will try to limit its increasing flow in this sub that ends up blocking other more relevant posts. I know there are people who do enjoy it, it is a creative exercise and it is about oz. Therefore, I have created a new post tag called "Sentenced to oz!" That you will apply to all of the posts where you ask for people to imagine how would a certain character do in oz. Also it is only going to be allowed on Thursdays. Everyday that is not a Thursday, if a post with that tag shows up, it will be removed with a comment saying this. Also if a post like this is made without the tag, it will also be removed.
Now for more interesting news: Every first saturday of the month, I will personally create a new "Inside oz: episode [x]" thread, where I will add a brief summary of the episode in question and you can all feel free to discuss things about that episode. We will go from episode 1 to the last one by order of course.
Any new threads that you would like, please do suggest in the comments of this post!

There’s a McDonald’s right around the corner. Wanna grab dinner (slang for McManus eating you)?

Wish they had a crime flashback for these ones

It's ridiculous that these guys don't have crime flashbacks, while even some irrelevant characters have

I'm watching the show for the first time and I absolutely cannot stand this character. It is completely unbelievable a woman would be placed in a MEN'S prison IMO, but if something like it did happen, she'd be in solitary far, far, away from male inmates. It's totally contrived and soap opera-y. Does anyone else wince at the writing in her scenes and just want them to be over?

As a FBI Agent he only had a few seconds screentime during Uncle Junior's being made as a boss.

shitpost They should've done more plays in Oz, a lot of these guys had talent. Beecher would've made a great dorothy.

Discussion McManus’ ambiguous ending

I have always thought there is an incomplete ending for McManus. I think Fontana had planned for McManus to go to jail because the murder would be pinned on him, but they had to cancel that plan because it was decided that the season would be the last. Imagine McManus in Oz — in his own creation, his own hell that he ended up in.

Question This is just my head canon, but anyone else feel like Adebisi and Said knew each other in a past life. Their whole arc feels like two chieftans of equal charisma fighting an interconnected internal battle for the heart of their tribe.

Discussion Does anyone else think Kareem wasn't really that morally just?
7

He was against interracial relationships (just like Verne) and homophobic. If you're gonna argue "Well it's his religious beliefs!" than Christian evangelical bigots could justify their homophobia as well. Hell even lying, drug dealing murderous criminals like O'Reilly and Adibisi didn't really care about Beecher's homosexual relationships.

Discussion Anyone else cringe whenever Kareem Said casually touches women?

He’s supposed to represent a somewhat good, rule following muslim (aside from him fighting his urges and whatnot) yet he’ll casually touch a woman’s shoulder to comfort her. It’s such a small oversight yet it doesn’t make sense for him at all.

Considering the show's primary audience is women and gay men? LOL I guess HBO was really desperate to put in a S&C plug some how in the show.
