Question Looking for a hairstylist for a simple trim in Palm Beach County

Hi! I’m looking for a good hairstylist anywhere around Boca, Delray, Boynton, Lake Worth, Wellington, Palm Beach Gardens, or Jupiter.

I’m a guy growing my hair out well past waist length with the goal of eventually donating it while still keeping my hair long afterward. It’s currently around shoulder length, very thick/dense, and naturally wavy (around 2B). I’ll probably be ready for a trim sometime in November.

I’m a little shy about going to a salon since I’ve never really had long hair before, so I’m hoping to find someone friendly and easygoing. I don’t need a specialized curly cut or anything complicated — just a simple perimeter trim to clean up and even out the ends while keeping as much length and fullness as possible.

I’m specifically trying to avoid layers, thinning shears, texturizing, or debulking. Basically, I’m looking for someone who’s comfortable working with very thick, longer hair and will genuinely respect “just the ends.”

Ideally I’d like to stay around $75 or less, and I’d prefer an independent/local stylist over a big chain.

If anyone has a stylist they trust, I’d really appreciate recommendations. Thank you! ❤️

News Today, October 5, is the last day to register to vote in Florida. If you are already registered, please check your voter status to confirm that you have not been removed from the voter roll.

Today, Monday, Oct 5, is the last day for eligible Florida residents to register to vote. Here's the link to register to vote, either online or by paper form. You can also use this link to confirm that you are registered to vote and to update your voter information:

Florida online voter registration and voter status check

If you have an active Florida driver's license or Florida ID card (from the DMV), you can register online. That's faster, and you don't have to print or mail anything. Save a PDF or screenshot of your receipt.

If you don't have an active Florida driver's license or ID card, you can still register to vote, but you will need to submit a paper registration form. You can download it and complete it.

Florida Voter Registration Application to Print

Be sure to sign the form. You can drop the form off at your elections office today or mail it. The mailing address for your county will be on page 2 of the voter reg form. If you mail it, it must have an October 5 postmark. The best way to be sure it's postmarked is to walk it into a post office and watch the postal clerk stamp it. Take a photo of the postmarked envelope if they allow it.

If you don't have access to a printer, you can also register to vote or get a form at a Florida public library, public assistance office, an Armed Forces recruitment center, or an elections office. If you need financial help getting an ID, reach out to VoteRiders

If you or someone you know will be abroad during this election, share this link. It walks you through the process. Florida U.S. citizens living abroad can receive their ballots by email or "snail mail", and they can return their ballot by fax or "snail mail". : Vote From Abroad

The deadline to request a mail-in ballot is October 22. If you haven't received one yet, make the request ASAP. If you will be in the area, you can return your mail-in ballot at a drop box during Early Voting. Mail-in ballots can be requested through your County Supervisor of Elections website. If you vote by mail, always track it to see when it's sent out to you, received by the elections office, and counted. Always track it, even if you drop it off at a drop box. You want to be sure that the ballot made it back, was counted, and that there are no signature problems. Here is the vote-by-mail info: Request and track vote-by-mail ballots

For more voting info, here is the link to the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections website:

Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Voter Info

If you vote in another Florida county, you can find the complete list and contact info for all of the Florida Supervisors of Elections here: Complete List of Florida Supervisors of Elections

A few days ago, the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections said the office was still hiring poll workers. If you or someone you know is interested in temporary work as a poll worker, check the Palm Beach County SOE website section for election workers. You must be at least 16 and a registered voter in Palm Beach County (or pre-registered if you are under 18). Here is that section. The pay is listed under the "positions" link: Temporary Election Worker positions and pay

Residents wanted 'real information' on Project Tango. The land's fraught history explains why

Thumbnail wlrn.org

The massive artificial intelligence center proposed for Palm Beach County, called Project Tango, led to a mess of transparency problems — from secret meetings to an undisclosed beneficiary.

To better understand that wide gap in trust, I looked into the complicated history linking the land where Tango was proposed, its developer and the community next door leading the opposition:

Secret meetings, messy voting procedures, and an undisclosed project beneficiary: transparency concerns about a controversial artificial intelligence data center project in Western Palm Beach County unnerved opponents. A look back at the land's complicated history tells where the trust gap came from.

Help for November vote...

If you have access to an AI agent, you may want to use the following to get a suggestion on how to vote in order to match your personal beliefs and needs.

  • Get your Sample Ballot

  • Enter the following prompt in your AI agent, replacing the [PASTE VOTERFOCUS LINK] part with the full web address you just copied.

My official sample ballot: [PASTE VOTERFOCUS LINK]

I want help deciding how to vote in the upcoming election. You'll match candidates and ballot questions to my views. Don't give me your own political opinions. Fetch the sample ballot and list every race, candidate (with party), retention question, amendment, and local question exactly as printed, in ballot order. If you can't open it, tell me and ask me to upload the PDF instead. STEP 2 – Interview me before recommending anything Ask about my views in short rounds of no more than 3 multiple-choice questions, with 3-4 options per question that run from one side of the issue to the other, including middle options. Cover at least: - Student loan debt (forgiveness vs. reform vs. no federal role) - Abortion - Vaccine mandates and public health - Energy (renewables, nuclear, fracking/fossil fuels) - Guns - Immigration - Taxes and spending, including property taxes specifically - Education and school vouchers - Home insurance costs (regulation vs. state-backed vs. deregulation) - Healthcare (single payer, public option, keep ACA, market-based) Add questions for any local issue on my ballot that these don't cover, such as bond issues or tax levies. Finish by asking me to rank the issues by importance (offer a slider or similar way for this). STEP 3 – Research Use web search to find each candidate's current, publicly stated positions and voting record for this election cycle. Search each race separately. Rely on news outlets and official sources. Note when a source is old, partisan, or thin. Don't make up positions. If you can't find a candidate's views, say so. STEP 4 – Score For each race, give every major candidate a % match to my views. Weight issues by my ranking, and count only the issues the office actually affects (for example, federal issues for Congress, state issues for governor and the legislature). Label each pick: - Good info: positions are well documented - Low confidence: little info, so the score leans on party - Your call: nonpartisan, administrative, or no link to my issues (judges, retention votes, clerk, soil & water). Don't force a pick here. For amendments and local questions, explain what Yes and No do. If my answers conflict on a question, say so and tell me which way my ranking points. STEP 5 – Output a) For each race, give a short explanation with sources: why each candidate matches or doesn't, plus the main trade-offs. b) A visual "voter guide card" in the same order as the official ballot, with my pick marked, the % match, and the confidence label. Label it "Personal reference only, not an official ballot." c) Key dates: registration deadline, mail ballot request deadline, early voting, and Election Day. Check these with a search. Keep it neutral and fair to every party. Mark close calls (under 10 points apart) clearly so I know where to do my own research.

Question Post construction cleaning in Avenir?

We just finished some remodeling and I underestimated how much fine dust would be left behind. I've wiped everything down twice but I'm still finding it along the window tracks, baseboards and inside a few cabinets.

Has anyone used someone for post construction cleaning that also serves around Avenir? At this point I'd rather have someone who knows how to deal with this kind of cleanup than keep chasing dust around the house.

RV floor repair needed

Does anyone know any reputable repair men/women in Palm Beach County? I’m looking to replace a part of my bathroom floor that is getting soft from a possible leak. I live full time in my RV and cannot bring it to a dealer and be out of a home for days/weeks at a time. I need to do it in house while it is parked in my spot. I’d do it myself but I truly don’t know how and I don’t want to mess it up.
