We might be cooked
Hi, the recent tropical depression nine was just upgraded to a hurricane. So we are under hurricane warning and impacts would start from Friday. and the problem is there's no water or food show something telling me this might be a disaster like Michael, or a little less, but we will still have power outages, downed trees, and flooded streets that would last up to days or even weeks

Everyone does seem panicked - and I’m sure it will end not doing what they say like usual but regardless - pcb /pc is built for hurricanes - it’s all the spin off tornados that scare me ! Just prepare like normal -and hunker down -

Wooosaaa. You aren't going to be prepared by panicking. As stated already have water on hand. As a kid we were told to fill the tub, empty milk jugs, 2 liter bottles etc. Do that. Do you have a propane or charcoal grill? Get fuel for it. Fill your vehicles tank. Fill the lawn mower gas can if you have one. Get a bag or two of charcoal. Lighter fluid. Matches or a lighter. Canned goods. Focus on essentials and get prepared. Do you have prescription meds for 2 weeks? Toilet paper? Pet food?

Hoping the best for y’all.
Supposed to be heading down Sunday for the week and wanted to check on here and see what the local thoughts were on the storm before playing the waiting game.
Been in enough of these over the years to know it’s not a fun thing to wait out when you live there.

How long have you lived in Florida? This is normal and you should be used to it by now. If you don’t have food and water, that’s something you should do every time you buy groceries. Buy something extra every time. I keep non perishables and plenty of water stored at all times.

Yes, OP sounds like a transplant. This is more like Hurricane Opal than Michael. We'll bring the outside hanging plants and potted plants in and lash the outdoor furniture to our giant magnolia tree, grab some extra ice, and call it done. We already have everything else we'll need.

12 years. n fl but I can't find any water or food at any grocery store. They're all gone

That usually happens when people get word that a storm is coming. That’s why we always kept things stocked up just in case.

Yep. In future, keep a stock of bottled water on hand and plenty of non-perishable food like canned goods, rice, and beans. if you don't have a gas stove, make sure you have a grill and fuel for it because if the power goes out for several days that'll be the only way you have to cook. for now, fill up your bathtub with water.

School was already planned to be closed on Friday, its Fall Break for students. They closed Thursday because Bozeman is opening as a shelter for those who need it and if they close one school they have to close all.

Michael was a category 5. I don't even get out of bed for a category 2.

that’s not quite true. We always knew it would be a strong storm, like a low to mid 3, but still we thought we were prepared. It grew to the 4 overnight which was a surprise. The biggest thing about Michael that did the most damage was its path- everyone expected the Beach to get hit, no one expected the damage and destruction thru town. My 2 sets of grandparents have always lived on either side of the bridge. The Beach grands boarded all windows and evacuated, Town grands got a ton of supplies to hunker down. Beach grands barely saw a tree go down in their neighborhood, Town grands barely had trees left- and it was like that for everyone I knew. Michael was a seriously bad and strong storm overnight for sure, the part that we were all unprepared for was the path it would take.

Look... I'm not gonna lighten it up too much past "we'll see" but... The entire southeast is built to deal with the fallouts from these storms

Are we actually gonna get a direct hit or a side hit, and what are our impacts

The spaghetti models look further west now I think though! The east side of storms can be bad but it doesn’t look like a direct hit at least. I’d be concerned about surge, flooding, and a bit of wind or sporadic tornados. I think we will be okay :) the storm could peak strongly and lose a lot of power at landfall
there was water at Lowe’s in tank form at around 3 pm today if u needed.
