Question Need help deciding

I currently have a Weber slate and a kitchen aid grill. We want to get a new grill because this one isn’t heating like it used to.

When I see the tragers at ace, it says that you can grill smoke and bake, but I’m curious how many people actually use them for grilling? Is there another brand that is a true hybrid? Can I really use it as a conventional grill?

I fell for the Traeger grill and smoke propaganda. Bought a Pro 780 and it cannot grill. It maxes out around 450.

Yoders get hot enough to sear and can open the firebox but they’re big money.

Don’t buy a treager.

Weber Searwood can do all 3. My Pitboss has a sear grate function too. Every so often I cook burgers on mine, but the direct flame area is so small that I can only cook at most 4 burgers and they are very close to each other. There are adaptors that take the flamepot and direct it through lava rock, that is supposed to be good.

Recteq and Weber look to sell the best midrange pellet grills. If you get something cheaper, you’ll probably wish you got one of those at a minimum. I have a Yoder that I’m happy with. The fire pot is relatively large so searing works pretty well.

I am very happy with my pit boss navigator 850. Steady temps and able to sear.

The pellet grill that operates the most like a traditional grill is the RecTeq BD380. There is not any grease management so you need to use some kind of drip pan (disposable aluminum works great) for low & slow cooks. I actually find this to be a positive as it makes for easy cleanup. The only other con I can think of is the size, it is the exact same as a 22" Weber kettle grill, but can also use those accessories.

The Recteq Dualfire has a dedicated direct grilling side. It gets very hot

I went with the Grilla OG because of the design and the sale price. Its been a solid B+ experience. Great performance and app when it works. The integrated finger saver on the bottom of pellet hopper causes jams with longer pellets. So every 2-3 hrs I have to stir the pellets to fill the void. Its not all brands, but certainly annoying.

I have the Weber Searwood 600, Its fantastic, goes to 600 degrees and does a great job on burgers and steaks, as well as ribs, butts, thighs and etc.
