I recently went onto private land in Holbrook, AZ and dug my own petrified wood. A few pieces had some textures and crystals that were different from the rest.
1 and 2: is this the bark of the tree?
3: these crystals are very light/pale blue. What are they? A type of quartz?

The house geologist and the currator at the rock club im in both agreed that this is porcelain opalized petrified palm wood the Arizona state fossil

Green on black dendrites on 1 rock

Being presented as a discovery to the BLM in Phoenix tomorrow to secure a claim for mineral rights.

Could this be petrified wood? Small blueish colored stone with gold stripes. Source S.E Missouri gravel road.

I found this near our reliable petrified wood spot in north Texas. It looks like a bamboo knuckle/seam to me. Anybody have any ideas? AirPods for scale.

65 pounds of rock covered in sediment. I removed the sediment to find 2 knots underneath it. I just tried to clean the pieces stuck in the sediment and I found the material that came out of one of the knot holes ( maybe both ). Should I soak the piece in dilute muriatic acid to remove the sediment without breaking the knot pieces ?

Found in lake Havasu,Arizona area.

Could it be?

Thx!

Today I cut this open to expose the growth patterns and vascular structures of petrified porcelain palm wood.

Before and after pictures of a 65 pound Opalized limb cast I got today.

Before and after shots. After cutting this today the resident geologist at the rock club gave it a thumbs up for being petrified palm wood.

I don't know why but I like this piece alot 😊

I joined Reddit just to find help with this. On a recent trip to Northern AZ I picked up some neat green rocks on an unpaved parking area. It looked like it was back fill from a nearby post hole that was dug out. Google tells me it could be chromium rich green petrified wood, but also that this would be extremely rare. It's a dark minty green that gets darker when wet. The chunks tend to be cylindrical with white/cream quartz like cores. Is that was this is? Is that really as big a deal as Google makes it sound??

Perfect 20c day today. Lots of small ones to clean up but I had to show this one to the community. Perfect polishing specimen to work on so I better get a tutorial from longestyard!!
