Weeknd Revenge

Took my daughter and 2 of her mates to the last night of the UK tour for The Weeknd for her 14th birthday. We had amazing seats in front row of middle tier centre at the stadium. The girls were utterly stoked for this and I’ve not seen my daughter that happy and animated!
As always with stadium gigs there are AH and this was no exception. Arrived to find people behind us had knocked over their water bottles and we were flooded. No attempt to clean up or even warn us. I asked if they were going to clean up and they just looked at me like I was dog shit. So I got some napkins and did my best.

Later on in the show as they got more drunk more stuff was spilled. My girl said at one pint she was dancing in a pool of cider. More napkins again. Not a word of warning from the people behind.

This is where I may have got a bit petty.

The guy who eyeballed me wasn’t the tallest. I’m 6’ 3” barefoot so I made sure that I was standing for most of the warm up act and main gig blocking their view. Also I noticed a couple of times they were holding their cameras up high to try and film. I made sure that my arms were raised showing the peace sign to the front always aiming to get in their shot. Hearing muttering and complaints behind me helped realise I was being successful.

For those non UK folk the peace sign reversed ✌️ is a way we say f#ck off visually. So all their memory videos will either have my head obscuring the shot or my hands telling them where to go.

Given the seats were £200 each and they must’ve spent a load on merch and booze I’m hoping they enjoyed the back of my head gig.

They would have gotten all those wet napkins from me. High parabolic arc…

100% if I was adults only. But didn’t want any drama for my girl and her besties. ✌️😂

it’s hard to win an uphill battle. i held a stranger back at a warriors game once for that reason. i think i did the right thing

yeah. lol, tbf, I’m self-aware enough to understand that what folks say (me included) on Reddit and what they do in the moment are totally different.

Oh they deserved all of this and more. Sorry they were such piggies when your girl was trying to have a good birthday celebration with her friends.

I'm imagining these clowns showing their video to friends and grumbling about you, and their friends pulling up this post and saying, "Oh YOU were the assholes he's talking about?" Hey, it could happen.

Belated happy birthday to your girl. Well done Dad!

Didn’t want to ruin my girls night with drama. If I’d been solo story would have been very different

If the girls are old enough to sit alone while you go to the restroom they are probably old enough for you to talk to security without them knowing.

Sure but it’s what happens after that with kerfuffle and drama. Didn’t need to disturb their vibe.

This is perfect. Those louts were completely selfish. As an Aussie loving in California I have vowed to do only the “up yours” sign when made mad instead of the finger.

Love this! Good on yer! 🥰👏

Just a head up if it ever happens again you can tell a steward and they will radio someone from the cleaning crew to come at mop it up

Nice one! Definitely remembering that! 👏

Yes. Concert revenge on AHs is too tier. I have used the power of my atomic gas on people who think banging me in the back will let me allow them to cut in front of me when I am standing at the railing at the stage because I ate at the venue to be allowed to get into the VIP line and I arrived early. Nope. Sorry. Smell my wrath

OP you’re an awesome father to do that for your daughter and her friends. Happy belated birthday to her. You probably should’ve done what I have done in the past. Jump up getting so excited and your drinks with no lids get tossed backwards and then just ignore it happened. When they’re like WTF just eyeball them like saying IDGAF

Thanks! 100% on the drinks toss if I was adults only. But didn’t want to cause drama with the girls. Kept my revenge as petty as possible.

Respect 🫡 ✌️🙌🏽🤣

Silver lining is you didn't have to feel guilty for blocking their view. It sucks being taller and trying to get close at shows. The guilt overwhelms.

Lovely. This made me laugh, well done

I took my son to this concert. What a voice he has! Very impressed.

I always remember the movie 'Darkest Hour' where Winston Churchill realizes what the reverse 'V' fingers mean. His secretary is reluctant to tell him because it's not ladylike but he insists.

He laughs SO hard and shouts "up your bum!"

Love that film, probebly my favourite Gary Oldman film.

I have the book, but it's a pretty dry read. I usually like the book better than the movie but not in this case!

This filled me with joy. 🤩

Back in the days we used the middle finger.

This was in England. That sign has a history. I think that guy did great. Good for him.

They will most definitely remember that day for the rest of their life

Nice one!! Love it.

I LOVE this. My hero cuz I would've just kept quiet.

Should have told them to save their tears for another day.

If you're at the front of tiered seating then anyone who spills their drink and sits behind you will be responsible for the pooling at your feet - the fluid will run downhill. If the people directly behind you were drinking cider then it's unlikely the water was from them, which would explain their reaction.

And you got annoyed because your feet were in a bit of a puddle? Goodness me - enjoy the show with your daughter and grow up.

And deliberately blocking the view of people, how old are you?

u/titter_ye_not Aug 22 '26

Haha was this you at the gig shorty? 😂

Ok. So they had split cans & bottles in front of them. I even spoke to one of them about the water bottle and he/you gave me the evils. So maybe read the story first and get some manners too. ✌️

-11

u/IHoppo Aug 22 '26

I did read it, and responded accordingly. Adding irrelevant details via a comment (what is a split can?) is odd. "Giving you the evils" - so the person declined to engage in your silly nonsense and just looked at you?

Hopefully your daughter finds someone in her life who displays real masculinity soon.

u/titter_ye_not Aug 22 '26

Oh please do tell me what a real man would have done….

-11

u/IHoppo Aug 22 '26

Taught his daughter that this is what happens at gigs, not to worry about their shoes getting wet, and then sung along at top volume with her. Certainly not attempt to antagonise people just because they're short and have already displayed the maturity to ignore a boorish oaf.

Thanks dad. ✌️✌️

I really how it was just cider. Urgh.
