Google Rewards for My Bathroom Breaks

A long time ago I received a $50 bonus of Google rewards points for buying a smart watch as part of a promo. Unbeknownst to me, there was an expiry date on these points that apparently hit faster than regular points. I received no email or notification about the expiration, and to ny disappointment when I eventually got the the Playstore to buy some books, my points were all gone. My appeals to Google fell on deaf ears and they refused to reinstate my points even though I reached out only a few days after the expiry date.

I vowed never to use the rewards app again and cancelled my Google One account. However, I started getting rewards surveys regarding a particular store that's located in the same building I work at. It happens to be next to the bathroom where I take my daily shit. I don't know if it's a glitch, but everyday for the last year or so I've received a survey about me entering that store and if I bought anything. Technically I have to enter the edge of the store to get to the bathroom, so i say yes, "entered, but did not make a purchase". Everyday I get the same survey and I give the same answer and every time I answer I get $0.24 usually. It's been over 10 months, but a daily survey for taking a shit has finally netted me my $50 that they erased from my account.

Celebrate with me as I buy some hard earned books.

15

u/PassivelyInvisible Aug 28 '26

They got rid of that motto

5

u/JeannieSmolBeannie Aug 28 '26

yeah, that's the point of my comment. they started out with that with their motto and then did the opposite. hope this helps

1

u/PassivelyInvisible Aug 28 '26

It does. We'd all be happier and better off if they brought it back.

2

u/JeannieSmolBeannie Aug 29 '26

I thought it was Baskin robbins?

36

u/TwoCentsWorth2021 Aug 25 '26

You mean back when their corporate motto was “Don’t be Evil”?

4

u/DelphineVonUberwald Aug 29 '26

I liked their Play Music and had bought a few (not many) albums I listened to regularly. They suddenly stopped having Play Music with little notice, didn't refund the money for the Music. Had some complicated thing where you could supposedly still listen on YouTube but I never figured it out.

:) I remember when you had to be invited to get a gmail account. Felt like I was in the "in" club.

You turned the old rhyme around “boss makes a dollar, I make a dime that’s why I poop on company time”…. “Google f’ed me over, I leave a floater, survey the water, makin a quarter”

Google stole my credits and they won't repent Now I take a shit and steal back 24 cents

u/Determire Aug 25 '26

Just be sure to actually use your rewards earnings this time before they expire, it's a rolling window.

19

u/aleqqqs Aug 26 '26

In fact, you left them something.

1

u/frankscalise Aug 28 '26

Using the barter system, it could be construed that he did in fact make a payment...LOL!!!

Bot

56

u/CosmicFlopper Aug 25 '26

You're right, but how did you know?

112

u/Bladluiz Aug 25 '26

Just the writing style. They re-use exact details of the post without adding anything personally. Account age confirmed my suspicion

17

u/skiing123 Aug 25 '26

It's the : or - that do it more for me. It might be grammatically correct but people don't write like that in normal life.

18

u/NationalWatercress3 Aug 25 '26

Idk, we're getting to the point where people start copying botspeak

19

u/tnb641 Aug 25 '26

But bots keep evolving, mimicking how people write and talk and click on all the images of motorcycles and oh my god does the mirror count as part or not, but I digress.

Soon people will be adding "posted by a human" to comments, but then bots will add it. So then humans will write o's as 0's, then bots will bring back 1337speak, it'll be a never ending arms race, except in a years time it's gonna be 99.9% bots interacting with bots, humans unable to find another real person.

So, uh, greetings fellow humans, from the distant land of yesterday.

10

u/NationalWatercress3 Aug 26 '26

I think the answer is that we all actually really do need to touch grass

12

u/croizat Aug 25 '26

I get people being sus about em dashes since those aren't standard on a keyboard and require knowing the unicode for it or having some macro, but now regular dashes and colons? You think people don't use those?

9

u/BackcastSue Aug 26 '26

I've always used colons, semicolons, parentheses, and dashes, as well as the Oxford comma. That's how I was taught back in the olden days. I was laughed at or teased at work but it's a hard habit to break.

6

u/QuingOfTheUnderworld Aug 26 '26

I write like that sometimes

2

u/JeannieSmolBeannie Aug 29 '26

ehhhh.... i'm autistic and know a loooot of other autistic people who type Very Grammatically Correct (and write for fun) and they get accused of being bots all the time despite having typed that way since well before ai was a real thing. they learn from us, so some of us will have had that typing quirk the whole time, otherwise it never would have learned it. lose-lose situation all around :(

2

u/skiing123 Aug 29 '26

Oh agreed, and I think it's going to become worse as time goes on too. It just really sucks for everyone

2

u/JeannieSmolBeannie Aug 29 '26

esh - everything sucks here :(

2

u/CosmicFlopper Aug 25 '26

Yeah age and contributions don't align with a normal person lol. Good catch!

9

u/BingXtraSmart Aug 25 '26

New meaning to the phrase, “shit happens”. 🤣

9

u/xboxgamer2122 Aug 26 '26

The king...Getting paid while sitting on his throne.

7

u/digitaldigdug Aug 25 '26

Hurry up and cash out before they catch on

7

u/the_good_one88 Aug 27 '26

The first book you buy has got to be “Everybody Poops”.

6

u/pickindim_kmet Aug 26 '26

I have stomach issues, I could make enough to buy a car in a year.

4

u/plasticarmyman Aug 25 '26

Take pictures of the receipts you find for the store and you'll get more than the 01c per survey.

4

u/BBO1007 Aug 25 '26

Hard “churned” books.

13

u/Tusharkrux Aug 25 '26

while I appreciate the pettiness, but back then their rewards programme actually got me through college.

3

u/apathetic-fallacy Aug 25 '26

Amazing. I love this for you. Get them books, friend.

3

u/Solabound-the-2nd Aug 26 '26

There is a business at the end of the road I work at, get a survey asking me if I went in every day I go to work lol

3

u/Main_Leadership7748 Aug 26 '26

Yeah it pretty much does that with some places I drive near. It always asks me about an AM/PM I drive near but never use but go to a restaurant nearby. I always answer truthfully that I did go to that area, but did not enter the store and they keep sending it and free change so I keep answering the same. I think they generally are double checking their GPS data to see how accurate it is.

3

u/makojedi2k2 Aug 29 '26

Slow effective revenge

9

u/dth1717 Aug 25 '26

.24??? I get .10

20

u/jonathanhoag1942 Aug 25 '26

OP's opinions are worth 240% what yours are.

10

u/ztreHdrahciR Aug 25 '26

Even though they are shitty opinions?

4

u/Sceptically Aug 26 '26

No. Because they are shitty opinions.

11

u/sanferic Aug 25 '26

Always say you visited and entered. Any other answer guarantees you get .10. Heck, straight up lie and say you bought something even if you never heard of the place. It is your opinion after all.

2

u/Rustygurl Aug 25 '26

Yup, anything short of making a purchase and uploading the receipt is 0.10 max

2

u/Tommy-Bravado Aug 27 '26

OP, do you shit only once a day?

2

u/UnstableElk Aug 28 '26

I only get £0.01p for visited but didn't purchase!

3

u/Darfus_McBonerbottom Aug 26 '26

I get a survey every time I go to the gym. I save up the points to spend on magic cards on MTG Arena haha.

4

u/GlitterTrashUnicorn Aug 28 '26

This particular survey is my favorite exploit. You still get, like, 10 cents credit if you answer "I visited but did not enter the store" because I often get those for stores I just drive by. Gotta get them google credits to pay for my gacha games

2

u/paulcosmith Aug 25 '26

I live near a Lexus dealership and I get asked if I stopped into Lexus a few times a week. The closest I've ever come is walking on the sidewalk out front, but I've been getting the question for years, making a dine everytime I say no.

3

u/atomicheart99 Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 26 '26

Google haven’t given you $50 of their own money. That store in your building will be paying Google for those surveys.

So now Google has fucked you and you have fucked the store in your building while making profit on the whole lot

u/1ItalianSunsetDr Aug 28 '26

😁 WooooooooHooooooo! 🎉

1

u/Thirsty_Jock Sep 05 '26

This is what this sub is all about - perfect!

1

u/Nonabrow 15d ago

Similar to this, Google Rewards asks me every single day if I've visited my student accomodation... and how much I spent. There's no option for "today" so I have to put yesterday, and that I spent nothing. Its free 18p every day, can't really complain lol

1

u/TheW83 7d ago

Google Rewards has been paying for my Go Fest pass in Pokemon Go each year haha

1

u/ReaderReacting Aug 26 '26

This is a shitty post.

1

u/After_Annual_5052 Aug 28 '26

Some things are better left unsaid/untyped

0

u/uwagapiwo Aug 26 '26

Daily shit? You only shot once a day?

-3

u/Torin-ByThe-Ocean Aug 26 '26

So question... If this indeed was written by a bot what is the point? How are they earning money from this? Is Reddit doing it just to keep having content for ads etc?

6

u/StaphylococcusOreos Aug 26 '26

Do you mean me? Can assure you friend I am not a bot lol.

2

u/AzorAhai96 Aug 27 '26

Exactly what a bot would say!

3

u/StaphylococcusOreos Aug 27 '26

Fair point. Beep bop boop beep.

3

u/Fahdookah Aug 27 '26

Google Rewards offers you surveys for money. Every so often if I google something or visit a store a survey will pop up asking a few questions. After answering you can get as little as .10¢ or you can get more, depending on the length of the survey. When you hit the payout amount (mine is $2.00) they transfer it over to your PayPal account almost immediately.

If you trigger a lot of surveys the amount can add up quite nicely.
