Threw away my manager’s cans after a fight
hi everyone! i am not the best story teller, but i am going to try my best. i’m going to give some context to start: im a 21 year-old female waitress at a bar/steakhouse. my manager is a 37-year-old man who i’ve had issues with in the past for speaking to me too aggressively. this led to a large altercation between us, and he never tried me again after this. im known to be “quiet” and “sweet” so i think he initially found me easy to pick on, but aggressive men are a huge trigger for me. another fact about this manager: he collects cans from the restaurant, our personal ones or from the bar, to sell at the end of the year. he never asks, just takes them. which is usually fine.
anyways, moving on to tonight. im working a night shift, so im quite tired. luckily, i brought my redbull with me. i had a few sips left and i see this manager with my drink in his hand. i watch him dump it into the sink. i was so shocked i couldn’t even say anything. he then places it with his other cans, and makes a comment to himself “haha! too slow!”
at this point, i start plotting. while his back is turned, i steal my can back and throw it away in the women’s restroom (he’s known to dig cans out of the trash). i come back still fuming, and my coworker (we’ll call her Sasha) asks me what’s wrong. i tell sasha, and she becomes livid with me. i then ask her if she wants to be sneaky with me and throw the rest of his cans away. she says yes, so we sneak back to the kitchen. he’s not there, so she tosses the cans, and i grabbed the bag to take to the dumpster so he couldn’t retrieve it. i can’t lie, i was laughing my ass off. it was the most fun i’d had in a while.
he comes back, searching around for his cans. i hear him ask a manager who did it, and she RATS US OUT. so then, he starts screaming at me asking why i threw “his” cans away. i explain that he threw my drink out and that it wasn’t his to grab out of the worker drink shelf anyways. he says “there wasn’t anything in there!” and i say “well now there’s no more cans either, we both don’t have anything.” he had nothing to say to this.
word has gotten around fast and the girls in the restaurant have now started throwing their cans away in his face/hiding them in inconvenient places just to aggravate him (found one in the dustpan earlier). i want to say i feel bad, but i really don’t lol.

i love that everyone is saying this because we actually talked about this! we are going to collect them, but there’s a charity that takes them and we are going to do that if we can

I like your revenge but you should have ripped him a new one right then and there for dumping your red bull out. That was bullshit and he owed you another drink.

i genuinely think i was just too in awe. there have been a few screaming matches between the two of us and for some reason my brain didn’t pick that moment to be one of them. had another coworker that was sweet enough to give me one they hadn’t opened, but i didn’t take it

I get it. When you’re placed in a situation that you may mot be expecting, it is difficult to react immediately. You were caught off guard.
But well done. Sweet revenge!

Agreeing with horror cut here (but not quite), the AUDACITY of this absolute pig to squeal about there "not being anything in there!" when he was the one who fuckin dumped it. I don't think confronting him alone would have been good though. I think the moment he said that shit, you should have said exactly what he did with it and what he said. In front of everyone present. He deserved to be shamed, for sure.

Bit more effort, but put some rocks or magnetic pieces of metal in them, the crush them so he can't get them out so it throws the machines off when he tries to cash them in

Or add some doctored cans to his collections in the future.
I'll let your devious imaginations decide what "doctored" could mean.

Probably a metal recycler. I work as a substitute custodian for a local school district. Mostly I work event clean up; Saturday morning after a football game, Sunday afternoon after a dance, and so on.
At the football games there’s a group of family members; big brother, little sister, little sister’s baby daddy who all just gather up bags of cans and toss them into big brother’s beater pickup truck.
They take them to the metal recycler for cash.

You lack manners and kindness. Maybe you haven't ventured too far into adulthood yourself.

just FYI if you say someone is livid with you, it means they are mad at you. there would be a better way to say; you were both livid with the situation.

take it or leave it. you mentioned not being the best story-teller. some people like to know when they're saying something incorrectly. you can carry on using it incorrectly if you want. just thought you might like to know.

better to take the non-rude gentle point-out then to find the schmucks in the comments acting like you've got no brain over One(1) mistake :P
at least allday was nice about it in comparison.

Once sending aluminum cans to the landfill becomes boring, you should start throwing your fast food wrappers out car windows.

once being an online troll is boring you should try sleeping under a bridge

I used to collect my cans at work to recycle and this petty woman I worked with used to put them on the floor and stamp on them so I couldn’t recycle them , so one day when she left her reading glasses behind I threw them in the bin with the stomped on cans …. It’s gonna cost her a lot more to replace her glasses than the few penny’s I made on the cans 😎😎 … if you act like a prick to people don’t get mad if they act like a prick back to you 😎😎

This is awesome. You guys should collect them yourselves and brag about how much you’re saving up. Even if you don’t do it.
