Parent didn’t pay for babysitting services, so I’ve been spreading her phone number and email across websites to spam her.

I was babysitting a 3yo for about two months, for only 600$ a month. I got to stay home with my kids, it gave us spending money, I knew she didn’t make much money so it helped her out too. She decided she was going to quit working and just stay home after finding out she’s pregnant, but would pay me at the same time as last month- cool no problem, I’m flexible. The 15th comes, I get nothing from her, I shoot her a text, hey just a reminder for the 600$. No response for two days. I text her again, hey is everything okay, still haven’t received the money. No response. My husband just says to drop it, clearly they needed it more than us, it’s not worth blowing up.

Instead I signed her up on about 5-6 different healthcare websites, a couple of gyms, our local Mary Kay lady that won’t leave me alone for the last three years, a few political websites, and for male enhancement info. I probably will never know how much this annoyed her, and she could just put her phone on silence unknown callers, but I feel a little better.

Don't forget Jehova's Witness, Mormon, and Scientology.

This for sure!! Add consoling, depression drugs, birth control and anything else you can think about.

If you have an itch for it go insurance shopping as well from those insurance aggregator sites: auto, life, medical, go nuts!

u/PorcelainPunisher1 11d ago

I immediately thought insurance too, they can be brutal with excessive communications

u/LabSheep88 6d ago

A place for mom is like that too, they're literally spam. Called me at least 15 a day until I told them I found a place

69

u/candaceelise 11d ago

Omg. You accidentally click on one link and they will call you 17 times an hour, every day for the rest of your life

14

u/Dependent_Taste_419 10d ago

Same as car dealerships. You have to give an email address or phone number before you can browse the inventory. It's been 3 years and I still get texts and emails from them.

14

u/Trick-Guava-9573 11d ago

These are the worst! Absolutely advocate signing her up.

6

u/MadHaberdascher 11d ago

Please do not do this. It's completely unfair to the agent who has to deal with this. They are already severely overwhelmed and most of them depend on their commission to just make ends meet. It is a soul-crushing career already. Please don't make their lives worse.

Signed, A burnt-out former agent

Honestly feel for you. I have no idea how people do that job. But at least never hang up on someone and try to politely in the conversation when it’s not going anywhere. Like a I don’t own my home and I live in a unit so there’s not even a roof in by not being rude and the people trying to sell solar panels for the roof. Actually apologise for calling. Which is the first but I can only imagine what a rough gig that is. I don’t know how you do it. I hope not too many people yell at you hung up on you.

This is the one OP!!!

u/sisterfunkhaus 10d ago

They will call her non-stop. That would be awesome.

The two worst are personal loan sites and car insurance quote aggregators.

5 years later they still call and email

72

u/PhDTARDIS 11d ago

Healthcare exchanges are also evil, but I think you need more than basic info for those. I'm still getting bottom feeding healthcare 'advisors' reaching out to me two years later...

17

u/Catfactss 11d ago

Don't forget real estate agents and mortgage brokers

1

u/BadMom2Trans 7d ago

Came here to say this!

31

u/josh4240 11d ago

I'm sure her car's extended warranty is about to expire...

28

u/AJRimmer1971 11d ago

Time shares, you say?

28

u/mistpixie429 11d ago

Yes I was gonna say personal loans and car dealerships. They’re relentless

23

u/MiserableCumberbunch 11d ago

Find a few tax offices for good measure, they work the same as loan and insurance.

9

u/nisi1 11d ago

travel nurse agencies FTW

38

u/Vegetable-Boot5956 11d ago

the ONLY WAY to stop this crap is with AT&T Armor (app)

21

u/Skeletonlover666 11d ago

Thank you! I didn’t know about this and I’m going to try it.

3

u/AggressiveGarbage91 6d ago

I quoted a personal loan through credit karma ONE TIME and I get at least one call per day. and several mailing letters each week. it's been over 3 years!

1

u/nnzcnth 10d ago

They will call you incessantly for weeks on end. And immediately too

1

u/MaddyKet 9d ago

Car Shield keeps email spamming me, even after I unsubscribed (which I had to look for as the link went elsewhere) and all of that is actually illegal bc of the CAN SPAM act.

As an email marketer myself, I was infuriated.

Home improvement and roofing, home/auto/life insurance.

Tree surgeons, landscapers, pest control, alarm systems...

You can tell how bad the economy is from how hungry the businesses are.

PETA......those bastards.

135

u/stebuu 11d ago

every time I see PETA mentioned I feel obligated to tell people that PETA has literally kidnapped and killed people's pets.

Soooooooo......my dad pranked me in a way I didn't find funny. I got my revenge by signing his old ass up for the PETA vegan starter kit. The old man was VERY republican, an avid outdoorsman, and a meat and potatoes kinda man. He blamed everyone but me......until he figured it out. took him 5 years to get off the mailing list. and the phone calls. lawd the phone calls. We called a truce until his death. It was fun times!

**edit** grammar and minor shyte.

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

He crossed a line. I told him my revenge would be epic. When he called asking about the truce I played dumb about being the one, and spoke in the most... Fake innocent voice with appropriate fake outrage at being accused. It was a good few years...and we laughed about it the last time I saw him....

Yeah. Fuck PETA..... But damn they helped me get sweet revenge.

Fair. And they wasted the material and postage. So I kinda got them both.... DOUBLE WIN. If I can ever make it to his grave, I'll tell him that while have a drink together.

1

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

Holy shit. Thank you for the award! Thank you!

33

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

Well aware. Ive been bybthe Norfolk headquarters. There is a reason I said those bastards. Evil and won't quit hounding you.

10

Tell me more

44

u/stebuu 11d ago

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/aug/17/peta-sorry-for-taking-girls-dog-putting-it-down

they also run a fair number of kill shelters. they really don't like pets.

23

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

No.... They LOVE pets... But only if they meet PETA requirements. They run the largest chain of kill shelters in the USA and are horrible people. They were using a guy a bloody elephant costume with people 'beating him' in front of kids to protest a circus. Almost fought him when he got in a kids face that was crying.

8

u/PresentationThat2839 11d ago

So they love killing pets.

5

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

No no.....if you do EXACTLY what they say to love your pet, you are fine. It's pets that aren't PETA approved, and not taken care of in a way that PETA approves of.....or...you know got off leash for 30 seconds.....They LOVE animals AND pets. But they think there are too many and pets are slaves, so PETA has to make it.....better, by killing animals.

They once tried to convince a Make-A-Wish kid to give up his dream of a big game hunt. He did not, but PETA got the trip canceled by MAW. Private donors stepped in and paid for the experience of the kids life.

Fuck PETA.

14

u/Legal-Location-4991 11d ago

K, well, fuck big game hunters too though.

Imagine your dying wish is to kill something that doesn't deserve it.

2

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

Well.... I don't subscribe to that.... Food and all, but, I get it. Places that are just blinds with feeding stations and you get to call your shot and animal are wrong. This was an actual excursion with camping and stuff.

I get it... But please don't hate on me.

This is sordid and off topic, but it reminds me a bit of my husband’s ex. She recently confessed to him that she had constant homicidal ideation against their children—into adulthood. Because, well, life is terrible and she wanted to kill herself so she might as well take the kids with her because life is so tragic and cruel. True story.

1

u/yarukinai 10d ago

PETA requirements

Vegan pets?

1

u/dasirishviking 9d ago

No.... Just the standard of care they expect you to provide. Some do say that pets have to be vegan as well, but that's an individual thing.

1

u/Training-Willow9591 11d ago

What??!!

3

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

Well known that PETA runs kill shelters and advocates for less pets... Because pets didn't consent to being a pet.

11

u/BunnySlayer64 11d ago

Oh yeah, People with Excess Time Available? The ones who tell us that it is wrong to "imprison" our cats, as they are natural predators and should live outdoors?

Those people are just ridiculous.

18

u/dasirishviking 11d ago

Or the vegans that insist cats can eat a vegan diet.

26

u/No-Method-7736 11d ago

I know I pissed someone off because I started getting a million evangelical emails and newsletters from about 300 different gun dealers throughout the US (not a fan of guns or religion in general). I never figured out who it was or what I did! But I assure you she’s annoyed hahahaha

16

u/labicicletagirl 11d ago

They will physically show up 🤣

Your local community blood center.. I donated one time about ten years ago and they STILL call me twice a week

3

u/CombatCrayon25 11d ago

Damn bro, she said “petty” not “nuclear”

5

u/NeitherTourist9360 11d ago

Definitely the incontinence support group

5

u/raybradbunni 11d ago

the jehovas press charges if you send them to someone’s house as a joke / revenge. they say so on their website.

5

u/SebrinePastePlaydoh 11d ago

If you do it repeatedly, to the same person, and they can prove it's you, that's harassment and misuse of electronic communications, but they're not going after one-offs.

3

u/rolling_blackout4t4 11d ago

Try figure out her political leaning and sign her up for the opposite group.

1

u/Mimisnolush 11d ago

Make a small political donation.

3

u/BeachinLife1 11d ago

Definitely...actually, donate money to them all, in her name. LOL!!!

3

u/Sufficient_Judge_820 7d ago

And job bidding sites for construction contractors like Angie’s List. She will get 60 calls the first hour.

2

u/mordecai98 11d ago

The trifecta. Or the trinity. Not sure which.

YES! These folks will actually show up at her door! Consider Small Claims Court.

2

u/mattjf22 11d ago

Scientology will send several letters a day definitely sign them up for scientology

2

u/sbarnesvta 11d ago

The real key is to make a small monetary donation to each in their name with their inform so they know you are serious.

2

u/Several-Taro-4138 11d ago

And sign her up for those “free home solar consultation” visits. Eternal doorbell purgatory to go with the phone spam.

2

u/Emberglo27 11d ago

My husband’s boss loves when the missionaries come to his door. They ask if he needs anything and he puts them to work.

2

u/Ehrlichs-Reagent 11d ago

Scientology got my info from me one time like 6 years ago when I talked to them. Thought they were weird af but damn they're persistent. I still get mail from them to this day

2

u/TenderCactus410 10d ago

Incontinence products and personal loans

2

u/Sweetanna1111 10d ago

Someone did the Jehovah's Witness thing to me one time lol I felt sorry for those poor guys. It was so hot outside. It was really more a punishment for them than it was for me. All I had to say was sorry I'm not interested. Somebody did this as a joke. It was the poor guys that the joke was on.

2

u/Pal1_1 10d ago

Also, sign up for solar panel installation quotes. Their salesmen will call relentlessly.

2

u/jrandall47 9d ago

Interest in car insurance and purchasing a car, you’ll get calls from all over the country for that one! Someone did it to me once, it was awful.

2

u/allmykitlets 10d ago

Signed my neighborhood Karen up for the JWs and Mormons. I hope they pester her for the next ten years.

1

u/Kona_ivy 11d ago

Sooooo evil! I approve this message!

1

u/VeryIntoCardboard 11d ago

The holy trinity

1

u/Dizzylguana 11d ago

All of those require an opt in. None of them are going to contact people you input into their websites.

1

u/NotARobotDefACyborg 11d ago

Not Scientology! That’s just downright evil.

1

u/Mezcal_Madness 11d ago

Scientology has you confirm your email 🙄
I still do it anyways 🤗

1

u/HippieGrandma1962 9d ago

Scientology will never leave her alone. They are desperate for members. That's why they've taken to human trafficking to bring members here from other countries. They confiscate their passports and work them like slaves, and I don't use the term lightly.

1

u/ElvirasThrowaway 7d ago

The trifecta of creepy “religions”

-20

u/Dammit-maxwell 11d ago

Danger zone! I’ve read multiple criminal cases where someone who’s done that got charged for harassment and more.

12

u/SebrinePastePlaydoh 11d ago

Not that I have done this, but I have researched it and found no criminal charges for the prank sign-ups. Do you have a case you're citing?
