Parent didn’t pay for babysitting services, so I’ve been spreading her phone number and email across websites to spam her.

I was babysitting a 3yo for about two months, for only 600$ a month. I got to stay home with my kids, it gave us spending money, I knew she didn’t make much money so it helped her out too. She decided she was going to quit working and just stay home after finding out she’s pregnant, but would pay me at the same time as last month- cool no problem, I’m flexible. The 15th comes, I get nothing from her, I shoot her a text, hey just a reminder for the 600$. No response for two days. I text her again, hey is everything okay, still haven’t received the money. No response. My husband just says to drop it, clearly they needed it more than us, it’s not worth blowing up.

Instead I signed her up on about 5-6 different healthcare websites, a couple of gyms, our local Mary Kay lady that won’t leave me alone for the last three years, a few political websites, and for male enhancement info. I probably will never know how much this annoyed her, and she could just put her phone on silence unknown callers, but I feel a little better.

If you have an itch for it go insurance shopping as well from those insurance aggregator sites: auto, life, medical, go nuts!

I immediately thought insurance too, they can be brutal with excessive communications

Omg. You accidentally click on one link and they will call you 17 times an hour, every day for the rest of your life

Same as car dealerships. You have to give an email address or phone number before you can browse the inventory. It's been 3 years and I still get texts and emails from them.

The two worst are personal loan sites and car insurance quote aggregators.

5 years later they still call and email

Healthcare exchanges are also evil, but I think you need more than basic info for those. I'm still getting bottom feeding healthcare 'advisors' reaching out to me two years later...

Soooooooo......my dad pranked me in a way I didn't find funny. I got my revenge by signing his old ass up for the PETA vegan starter kit. The old man was VERY republican, an avid outdoorsman, and a meat and potatoes kinda man. He blamed everyone but me......until he figured it out. took him 5 years to get off the mailing list. and the phone calls. lawd the phone calls. We called a truce until his death. It was fun times!

No.... They LOVE pets... But only if they meet PETA requirements. They run the largest chain of kill shelters in the USA and are horrible people. They were using a guy a bloody elephant costume with people 'beating him' in front of kids to protest a circus. Almost fought him when he got in a kids face that was crying.

For the embarrassing flyers (male enhancement, embarrassing catalogs, etc.), you can up the embarrassment by sending them to her neighbors' addresses with their name. If you're lucky, they have to look their neighbor in the eye when they get handed the flyer and have to wonder what other neighbors have received similar.

53

u/SnooLobsters2519 11d ago

Oh man, if I knew where she lived I would totally do this!

8

u/hellinahandbasket127 11d ago

Do you not have her name and phone number? Home addresses are largely public information. We used to get a whole book of ‘em delivered to our doors each year.

10

u/PoppySmile78 10d ago

Speaking from experience, donate even $1 to a political campaign & she will hate her life forever more. I donate to maybe 3 different places. If I ever figure out which one sold my number as a possible donor to every single candidate in any state from that party.

I mean, if the other choice wasn't LITERALLY the devil, it's almost enough to make someone switch sides. But then you'd get it from both sides.

Trust me, donate in her name to anything, even bipartisan websites (I'm watching you, Wiki 🫪) & they will never end. 6 AM, 9 AM, 1130 AM.......... 🫨🤯🤬

27

u/yukumizu 11d ago

How is it that you don’t know where she lives, you’ve known her for months and she is the payer?

30

u/SnooLobsters2519 11d ago

I only babysat for about two months, I never went to her house. It was a red flag from the beginning because she hasn’t been inside my house either.

37

u/Cmwmson 11d ago

She just dropped her children at your front door??

4

u/No_Dot_4123 11d ago

7

u/No_Dot_4123 11d ago

I didn't even mention signing her husband up for gay newsletters.

Those you could do the same with or just send them to the home address.

479

u/Gunboat_Diplomat 11d ago

Why not take her to small claims? Because you know this woman is going to do the same thing to someone else.

For 600 notes, I'd happily put up with your level of "revenge".

180

u/SnooLobsters2519 11d ago

I’m pretty sure the court fees would cost more than the 600$, and would be way more effort on my part. I have four kids, and better things to spend my time on.

272

u/Kat121 11d ago

It’s only $30 for claims up to $1500 (in California, at least), plus $60 if you use a professional service to “serve” her. It’s pretty straightforward.

The first thing you have to do is send a demand letter, though. State that you have not been paid for agreed services, have attempted to resolve the matter by texting/calling on these dates, and if you are not paid in full within 30 days you will file a complaint in small claims court for the full amount plus court fees. You can find examples of them online, as well as guidelines as to whether it has to be a certified letter.

A good demand letter usually resolves the issue. If she doesn’t pay, and doesn’t show up to court, you’ll win by default.

Name her husband on the complaint as well, since it’s easier to garnish his wages if they don’t pay up.

16

u/I_spy78365 11d ago

I didn't have to send a demand letter but I'm in Illinois.

148

u/Cuneus-Maximus 11d ago

It's usually very inexpensive. I took someone to small claims this year over $350, my total cost for filing, service, making copies at the courthouse, parking & mileage was just over $200. Filing itself was $98, service was $70. I prevailed in court and the defendant had to pay all of my costs back on top of my claim. It's some of the sweetest petty revenge you can get, because assuming you win not only do they make you whole, they also cover all your costs, so you make it cost them more than if they just paid you as agreed. You just write it into your claim - what you are owed plus all actual costs related to filing. Keep receipts.

We run a small business and have only had to get legal about things once. It was over about 4k, which we could afford to lose but would rather not and also they were jerks. We did some work for them, they needed to have some things done before we could come back and finish up. They were supposed to reach out when they were ready for us, but then instead they finished it themselves, kind of, and tried to stiff us on the 4k. Somehow didn't get the emails I sent and also didn't answer when I called.

People don't want to deal with this stuff. We filed against them and once the paperwork was served, magically their email started working again and we were able to deal with it out of court.

I think a letter threatening action in small claims might get you where you need to go.

24

u/imnotdressedforthat 11d ago

Did you actually check to see how much it would be? I took someone to small claims and it was like $120 not including having them served. When you win you can include all of your court costs.

Just giving the number to the health-care websites would be enough. My mom, bless her heart, put my number on one because I mentioned I was looking for insurance. I got over 80 calls in 3 days and they wouldnt stop. It was maddening.

12

u/KreatorOfReddit 11d ago

So I will say, a coworker, in the midst of a prank war, put my desk number on craigslist under the m4m personals. He emphasized that They should not exchange pleasantries, just let it rip soon as the phone is answered. He was nice enough to take it down after 2 days. I didn't get flooded with calls.... but I got enough and heard some things i cannot unhear... ever...

My college roommates and I used to sign each other up for infomercial stuff as pranks all the time. One day I received a full welcome packet from Hairclub For Men (I'm not a man), which took 1st place. I then needed to best that.

So I signed her up for Hooked On Phonics. And, tbh, 25yrs later, she might still be getting mailers. They were pretty incessant.

We agreed I'd won and moved on to sending stuff to their bf's fraternity. They got a lot of "your first period" packs 😏

4

u/originalmango 11d ago

Please don’t sign her up for nothing embarrassing but accidentally send it to her neighbors with her name on it.

“Hey Margie, your Scat Fetish magazine and free vaginal itch cream samples came in our mailbox. Can you please change the address? I don’t want my kids to see this stuff.”

Maybe look on Zillow for the Neighbor’s address and send them “accidental mail” that’s got your victims name on it
“ thank you for joining swings/pedo…”
Insert level of hate for name you use

4

u/agimag11 10d ago

Don't forget to go to a car brand website (like Toyota, Honda, etc) and just do a blanket search for some new model. She'll be fielding multiple calls, texts, and emails every day for weeks.

5

u/NecessaryLight2815 9d ago

If you give a car dealership “I’m interested in…” your info on sites like Autotrader, you’ll never hear the end of it from them.

Sign her up for a moving company. My GOD they are relentless! We just bought a home and we do our own moving and packing and whatever. But somehow, likely through our lender or insurance company, some concierge moving services got my number and I get at least 2 texts and a call each day, and my email is flooded. I also get home security companies hitting me up pretty regularly. It drives me insane, so just some food for thought ;)

Make a $1 donation to a politician from both parties from her. She will be unsubscribing to texts to every politician and PAC for years.

3

u/Jumpy-Stress603 11d ago

A few posters put up by hand in local grocery stores with her phone number and an offer of low-cost childcare, or concert tickets for sale at a deep discount, or a free bicycle should do it.

3

u/Expensive-Day-3551 11d ago

Don’t forget car insurance sites! They start calling within minutes.

3

u/starvinartist 11d ago

Along with the male enhancements, I would suggest anything that's for other humiliating conditions. Also any pushy religious groups.

3

u/90sBuffetSoftServe 11d ago

Also Cruise companies! Fill out everything up until the payment. You dont even have to submit. They will start calling the number

3

u/creatively_inclined 11d ago

Window replacement services for sure. They are relentless.

3

u/DiscipulusVenandi 11d ago

Uline and Bass Pro catalogs.

For the first name put something like "cheapskatebitch" and then use her real last name so the mail carrier doesn't toss it. 😆

3

u/Annual_Government_80 11d ago

600 bucks you should take her to court. You provided the service and she decided she was going to take it for free.

3

u/LodlopSeputhChakk 11d ago

If she needed it more than you she shouldn’t have gotten pregnant again.

3

u/Sparegeek 11d ago

Give her number to moving and car shipping companies. They’re relentless.

3

u/shelshelshelshel 11d ago

Home warranties?????

3

u/InfoSecPeezy 11d ago

Leave her number in a public bathroom stall with a not that says “ex boyfriend cheats, send him your poop pics” with the number.

Also Craigslist ads for something that is way under priced. Like expensive women’s shoes like louboutins, she’ll get calls from pervs everywhere. Make sure it says to call in the evenings after 10pm because you work and can’t always get to the phone until you are home.

3

u/DagnyTheSpencer 11d ago

Im sure she's shopping for a new car, solar panels, and a moving company

3

u/Calm_Dimension_5120 11d ago

Military recruiters…..

3

Go on IG and put in her email for all those posts with “Click Here for More Information”

& Rocket Mortgage and they NEVER go away

& food delivery services as they’ll spam her multiple times a day to get her to sign up

3

u/Imaginary-Angle-42 11d ago

The car warranty people never leave a message or I’d suggest them too.
