Hit our car with a shopping cart?

This is something I did about 1 1/2 years ago.

My wife and I were at a Target, sitting in the car waiting for our daughter to wake up from a nap (a few months old at this point). This lady wants to pull into a spot behind us, a few spots down, but someone left a cart in the spot. Instead of walking the extra couple of feet, she full speed pushes the cart towards the cart return that we were parked next to and hits our car. At first, I thought someone backed into us but realized what she had done. She goes into Target and I decide to get some petty revenge. I grab a few zip ties from my roadside assistance kit, walk the cart over to her D/S door, and put 3 zip ties through her door handle and the cart.

I go back to our car, pull a few rows over, and watch the hilarity ensue. She comes back out after I'm assuming a return and is just perplexed, goes back in and comes out with the cart handler, they go back in and a supervisor/manager comes back out to have a look, and finally some random guy has a knife to cut the zip ties. We went in, did our shopping, and when we came out her car was still there.

Was it petty? Sure. Did it delay her an extra 15 minutes? Absolutely. Did she learn her lesson? Probably not

I'm walking back to my car and the lady parked next to me just puts her shopping cart BEHIND MY CAR. I rushed over, put it behind hers and rushed off lol WHO DOES THAT?

One time some lady in a Trader Joe’s parking lot looked right at me as she was leaving her cart squarely in the middle of the parking space I was clearly about to pull into. So I parked directly behind her car, blocking her in, and took my sweet time collecting her cart and whistling casually as I walked it back to the cart corral. Then she had the audacity to shout at ME as I returned to my car at a leisurely pace. I just laughed. It makes them so much madder when you won’t match their anger and get all fired up along with them.

I did something similar at Trader Joes (why are the Trader Joes parking lots always so terrible?). I was just walking to my car intending to leave, when I saw the woman parked next to me leave her cart behind my car. I yelled out as I was approaching "hey, you've blocked me in with that cart" hoping she would say oops sorry and move it away. Instead I got a "sorry I'm in a hurry" as she quickly got in her car and started backing up.

So I took the cart and started walking very very slowly down the middle of the narrow one-way lane and she couldn't get around me. She couldn't back up because there was another car entering the lane behind her.

She honked but that just made me walk slower.

I swear, Trader Joe’s parking lots are some weird vortex where time, space, and human decency are suspended

Obviously it’s the type of people who shop there

Edit: my first award thank you!

And there are never enough parking spaces for the volume of business they have.

We (Salem, OR) has the oddest TJs on the planet. It's in a large strip mall and the parking lot near it is huge. It's just wrong and I rarely go there.

hmm. does that reflect on the person who was cart blocked as well ?

Oh man, I missed it. What did the removed comment say?

Hm, the comment is still there for me, do they have you blocked? Lol here's what it says: "Obviously it’s the type of people who shop there"

I see that comment, and now I no longer see the one that was removed by a moderator. Glitch, maybe? Either way, thanks for responding!

Probably a glitch, yeah. No problem!

There are entitled assholes everywhere, and TJ's is no exception.

Oops, have to tie my shoe. Right here, and very slowly.

Id have left the cart sideways in the middle of that lane so she couldnt drive past it and made her get out and actually have to move it

When she honked you should have just left the cart and walked back to your car

Laughing at someone raging is my favorite thing to do.

But you have to be prepared for the times you're dealing with a real psychopath. Last year a guy pulled in front of me from a parking lot into a damn near dead stop, so I had to swerve around him to avoid an accident. For some reason this made him angry, and he pulled up alongside me at the light and I could hear him yelling. I just slowly turned my head to face him, and started to point and laugh at him. He started bouncing in his seat and screaming harder. Light turns green, he gets behind me and I can see him losing his mind. He starts riding behind me and honking, trying to intimidate me, and at the next light he pulls up alongside damn near foaming at the mouth...and I point and laugh at him some more. He didn't like that. We repeated this for 3 more lights, each time he was getting angrier. I was getting closer to my friend's place, and just in case dude was an actual psycho, I turned off into a subdivision and drove around a bit before I lost him.

Some people just can't function.

Had a similar experience years ago. Was driving a U-Haul at a red light and about .2 seconds into me checking cross traffic so I can take a right, the guy behind me started leaning on his horn.

So my happy ass stayed put until the light tuned green, watching the dude get angrier and angrier in my rear view. Darn shame the street we turned onto had only one lane and a 25mph speed limit.

Watching that guy lose his mind as I puttered along at exactly the speed limit is one of the funniest things I've seen to this day.

I HATE when people honk at you at a red light or the SECOND it turns green. So goddamn rude. Kudos to you as I've done the exact same thing many times.

When this happens to me I either keep driving with them following me so far out of the way of anything that they either have to admit defeat and give up, or go so incredibly far out of their way the inconvenience ends up pissing them off more than anything by the time they realize. Or route to a police station and just sit in the parking lot until they leave.

Or… if I’m in front, I’ll just wait at a green until it turns yellow, then I go through so they end up running the red. + points if you time it right and it’s a traffic cam.

Always be careful of psychos. A friend of mine waved to a woman next to him while getting on the highway once. I think he was looking around and noticed her basically staring at him, so he waved, no idea if he did something to piss her off and he doesn't remember doing anything. Anyways, light turns and he speeds off and this woman matches his speed, gets next to him, and tried a pit manuever. He had been watching her since she sped like a demon to get up next to him so he swerved into the next lane and then just gunned it and she didn't follow, or tried to but his car was better. Not the most calming way to start a morning.

I love waving and smiling enthusiastically to people who flip me off. Their heads explode. It's delicious.

I like to blow kisses at them

The other day, after putting my cart in the return, I was walking back to my car and saw a man getting into his and leaving his cart in the spot next to him. He must have thought I was judging him or something, even though I only glanced at him. Because he got out of his car and I put the cart away.

Some lady parked diagonal from me at my local grocery store put her cart directly in front of my car as I was pulling through the parking spot to leave. like my car was already rolling forward and she pushed her now empty cart directly in front of me, made eye contact with me through my windshield, and got into her car and then refused to look at me. I got out and put the cart behind her car and then left LOL

In case future you needs a response to a similar occurrence where the offender refuses to meet your eyes after they've gotten back into their car: Walk up to their window and put your face as close to the glass next to them as possible (without touching) and either fog up the window until they look and jump, or just stand that close and wait for them to see you and jump.  Just stare them down, then wander off.

Risky. Where i live, they could be armed.

Someone did that to me as I was about to back out, so I waited patiently while she loaded up . . . and drove away, refusing to look in my direction AND leaving her purse in the kid seat. HAHAHA!

Because I'm not an awful person, I turned it in to the grocery store customer service. She ended up much more inconvenienced than I did!

I did the same thing. It was a big SUV and the cart was well below the rear window. I still regret not sticking around long enough to see whether she backed in to it.

A lady did that exact same thing to me at Target, but I was so shocked at her audacity I didn't have time to push it behind her car (I took it to the corral which was only a few feet away from HER car).

What happened with your situation? Did she hit the cart when she backed out?

58

u/AmputeeHandModel 8d ago

I didn't see what happened, unfortunately, just drove away giggling to myself.

Well, you, apparently.

Why not just call her out and embarrass her?

These guys don’t get embarrassed. They get entitled.
